Default Universal Air Suspension On Coilovers

Hey guys, well I was on this other forums looking around and I found out people trying to slam their cars lower by already having coilovers like megans, ksport, and teins by putting on universal air on top of the coils an welding some kind of bracket on the coilovers and removing the spring. I just emailed one of the shops down here and they said they can. So I made an appointment. I just bought my ksport coils an dont want to just take them off and waste the money I put by just bagging it. I just want some feedback on what you guys think about it before I try it out.

I don't know enough about airbag suspension. Can you come up with a picture of what/where they modify the coils?

Why buy coil overs and then trash them to accomplish this when they sell airbag kits for our maximas?

Honestly that defeats the purpose of coilovers. Many people only get that kit because they didn't think of getting air suspension in the first place. So rather than try to sell it and get springs... they decide to use the kit. That will be very expensive as well. Should just get air bags from the start.

alot of people do this so they can control the dampening of there set up. Air runner and all the major bag companies out there run a coil bag set up. i was planning on doing this because a coilover strut is stronger than a stock strut and can with stand being compressed all the way. alot of the reason why a stock strut blows when you are running springs is because the strut is bottoming out. If you have ksports then you are good to throw some bags over it. take it to the shop where they can measure the width of coil struit and know which size bag you need and you can piece together your kit. The one from universal suspension is made using your stock strut. hope all this helps. good luck

Yes that also. But for $3,931.25 (not including install) you can get a reliable universal air suspension kit on aftermarket spring struts without any problem. Its all in the proper install of the kit so you don't blow your struts. You're looking at like $4,500 give or take with install.

The same can happen to your coilovers as coilovers go bad as well. Its even more expensive to repair/replace a coilover than to replace a strut. Just need to look at all the pros/cons and also cost benefit. If it is truly a show car then you can do all out with full coilover / air setup.

But if you use your car often for a daily driver... you may want to think about the options.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/KSPOR...Q5fAccessories

Just my opinion.

I just got back and they said it will take about a week or 2 to make the perch and install it to the car. I'm waiting to get the price but was quoted around 3 grand installed for a custom bag kit with universal air bags. I'm kind of leaning toward just taking out the ksports and just bagging it.
