Default Too Many Scratching After Lowering

So I lowered my car 2 days ago and haven't got it aligned. Thing is I am using the megan springs and I just keep on scratching on humps and bumps also ramps even if I try to it sideways. So I was wondering if changing from 17 oem to g35 19s with 225/45 front will help me get more ground clearance?

Can anyone also please post a pic on how the underneath of the engine bay looks like? I ran into a big pothole hiding in a podle of water today and now I am seeing a bent metal down there right under the tranny

Ahh... They joys of being lowered. I'm not a wheel pro but I don't think that its goin to help much. As you go higher or lower in wheel diameter, you also do the same with the tire, keeping your ride height the same. Again, I'm not a wheel expert but this is how I see it. Someone here will definitely correct me if I'm wrong.

Take a pic of what you see and we can tell you if it's normal or not.

Going up in tire size will help, but you have to make sure you increase the overall diameter of the tire/wheel combo. Your average 17" is around 24.3" to maybe 24.9". If you go to a 245/35/20 they are around 26.8" to around 27.2ish". There's almost 2" inches right there.

When I switched from a 245/35/20 to a 245/35/19 I scraped all the time. It was so bad I couldnt even park in the lot at work. I couldnt clear the speed bumps with scraping the hell out of them. I switched tires to a 245/40/19 and that helped a lot.

I would ditch those 17's for sure.

Getting a thicker profile tire, try a 245/45 on the g35 19, my car is so low that I scrape on even pavement I just turn up the music so I act like nothing happened

Just make sure you get the right rims, iirc the g35 sedan sport rims are 18s and the coupes are 19.

Going from 225 to 245 is only making the tire wider. Your looking to higher (thicker) so the middle number, 45, should go to a 50 which is tire thickness.

I agree. I was lowered with Progress springs and a 40 series was about the tallest I could go.

I misspelled *hitting lol fixed though, but yup 245/45 would be best, it's less of a stretch than a 225/45 making the height slightly taller

Boy! Why lower for so much trouble. In my part of the globe, people do a lot of improvisation to increase the ground clearance. Different strokes....
