Default Progress Rear Sway Bar Install Trouble

Hi Guys,

Just finished my first mods (Springs struts and shocks) on the Max. I'm only somewhat happy.

Just picked up the car from the shop. When I drive I'm hearing a nasty clunking in the back end when i hit the tiniest of bumps.

According to my tech "The sway bar links are hitting the radius arms". The sway bar looked like an easy install, so I'm wondering why it gave them so much trouble. (Possible I received the wrong part??) Although everything looked alright to me.

I'll try to get a decent photo of the rear end.

Help!

Look for the sway bar Install thread on this forum and compare it to yours. They might have installed it backwards

Thanks deadbolt! I did in fact! Mine looks bass ackwards.

Does someone have a photo from the same perspective as my photo? I'd like to present both to my tech.

I made the DIY thread, did I not post a pic after install? You can compare that pic to yours. I'll double check it.

On the instruction sheet for the sway bar it warns you to be careful of putting it on backwards. Its easy to do...

Did you ever install one Don? It really is easy to do. I had to make sure I took the old off first and then matched them up and I marked the Progress. Even if its backwards it goes on pretty easy.

I put a Progress bar on my Maxima, and I put a rear sway bar on my Taurus. For some reason, my 99 Taurus rolled of the assembly line without a rear sway bar, so I didn't even have the old one to check. This wasn't a guy in his backyard...this was a shop...they should refund him his money out of pure embarassment. They couldn't tell when they bolted it up that there were going to be clearance issues?

Anyway...I'm glad they got it worked out.

Yeah Hawaii, he was pretty embarassed. Rather than getting into demanding my money back, I decided to allow him to redeem himself (otherwise he was a great tech, very honest). We both agreed that the next mod I get them to do will be done without labour charge. (Catback install....?)

So, everything worked out.
