Default People With Coilovers Questions

1. How slammed are you?
2. Any vibrations?

In october i blew both axles... got em replace and still had some vibrations. I parted out the car and was back at stock height until march. slammed again and had absolutly no vibrations.

Sunday i blew my passenger axle, got it replaced... still have vibrations... yes im slammed and if i raised it i wouldnt have vibrations, but this never happened before... help?

Default Re: People With Coilovers Questions

The vibration is most likely coming from the axles binding under the pressure of the drop. I had the same issue and had to raise the car up a bit. Also, did you get a wheel alignment after the drop and are your tires balanced? the thing too will give you a vibration. As you can see from my sig, i am just as low as you if not lower and i have no vibrations. Also keep in mind that the 04-06 maximas are famous for front end vibrations and shimmers regardsless of suspension.

If its only when you accelerate then its definately the axle and that is caused from it binding....more than likely the passenger side. Thats what happened to me and once it was replaced, the vibration on acceleration was gone. Had it replaced at the dealer for free.

Warranty....it was a pain though. I had to bring the car back to stock to have it replaced. It payed off though as i got a few other things replaced while they were trying to diagnose where the vibration was coming from.

That deopends on how bad the axle gets. In my case, i had the vibrations even after i went back to stock but i rode around with it vibrating for over a month. The funny thing is, i never had a leak from it and if you looked at it, you would never think it was bad. But when they removed it, the spindles were gone.

I spoke to the guy at Raxles who makes bullet proof axles that last even when the car is lowered. He told me that the axles on our cars are bad from the factory and are not made to withstand any form of stress. He said that he has redesigned the drivers side and made it better but has not gotten around to redesigning the passenger side as he has too many projects working on. Being that you are an auto, he might have something for your car as those axles are more readily available. Call him888) 257-8192 or (800) 257-8192, his name is Marty.

Kenji, the chirping comes from the sway bar link rubbing on the fire wall of the engine. If you look, i am sure you will see the scrape marks. I have the same issue when making certain turns or going over certain terrain.

Yes they do...the dealership i go to in queens told me that the normal cost is 50 plus tax but being that i am lowered it would be 100. i got a spot here in the bronx that does it for 70-80...they are really good and they use the laser guided machine. Took 20 mins to do mine. You also get a 30 day warranty on it even if you change suspension parts that might affect your alignment, you can bring it back as long as you have your reciept and they will readjust the alignment.

I really doubt its your tie rod ends....a worn tie rod normally gives off a popping sound as a tie rod normally goes bad when the grease in the boot is worn out which leave metal to rub against metal. Look under your car, you will see how close the sway bar sits to the engine bay, you might also see the rubbing impressions it makes. I could be wrong but from my experience, it has mostly been the sway bar links.
