Default Need Help w/ Brake Lines

Hey Guys,

I'm getting all 4 Rotors & Brake Pads replaced next weekend. What kind of brake lines do I need and do you guys have any recommendations? Anywhere with good prices? Hope to hear from you expert people soon.

And should i paint my Calipers Black or Silver? I have a Silver Maxima w/ Black wheels.

Thanks,
Saiko C.

Are you changing these just because you want to? Because they wouldn't HAVE to be changed.

I don't think you would need to change them. And paint the calipers silver, they'll stand out with the black rims.

Cool! I thought about upgrading them to Stainless Steel Braided Lines, but I really don't know what advantage that would be, so.... I thought I asked here.

These are the Rotors & Pads of getting:

AlienBrake Rotors Cross-Drilled, Slotted, & Center Painted Black: $215 Shipped
Hawks HPS Pads (2Front-2Rear) $130.00 Shipped

Okay, I'll paint the Calipers Silver!

Thanks for the Help Everyone.

There's an Alien Rotor group deal thread somewhere in the classifieds section. Have you looked at it? I'm not sure how the prices compare to what you posted.

people upgrade steel lines because under hard driving the boiling point of the brake fluid will start to swell in a rubber line , guys that drag/rally/road race benefits from upgrade lines.

I would get them if I went big brake kit or something like that just because but unless your really hard on your breaks or drive in conditions requiring added protection for your brake lines or simply are scared someone will cut your brake lines they aren't needed. Its most aesthetic at that point. (I would get them just cause I can say I have them at that point)

I won't be doing any dragging, racing, or rally stuff. But I do drive my Maxima hard.... (Red Line it very often). So I should be okay with my stock lines right?
And talking about brake fluid... should i change that too? Since I'm switching new brake parts? I'm not a really car technical person.

My grocery getter gets me to and from pretty quick, and in style while combining comfort & performance. =D

Saiko C.

If your doing a full swap on brakes and you haven't done it previously I would bleed and refill your brake fluid when you do this. A worthwhile investment. Redlining your car would be bad on the brakes. poor braking would be. slamming on the brakes a lot or riding them a lot form high speeds Testing your braking distance from 100mph to 0mph often would be a perfect example.

you should be fine , esp if you guys live up North in Snow, steel lines may not be your best friend during cold weather.

all you really need is a very good set of Cermanic pads and your good to go !

Lol. It snows here in the winter, that's about it. I don't have any enemies that I know of. The SS Brake Lines are a bit pricey, so if I don't really need them, then I would like to save as much as possible. =D
