it could be 1 outta 3 things: 1. might need new shocks 2. might need to change your bushings 3. you might need to change Shock Tower Mount.... had the same problem so i wound up changing my whole suspention

You probably have bad tires or tires that are out of round.

That ain't right.

I would have to sell the damn thing if I had a shimmy that was unfixable.

I have new struts an springs replaced everything nothing old was used. I have new rotors an brake pads as well. Balanced an aligned. i am going back to have the cv axle checked again. So far they have replaced it 2 times. First time it was defected an this time i still think it is the axle. The little shimmy in the steering wheel i can deal with but when going over 60 i can see my center console shaking. You can sorta feel the whole front end wobbling a little. it's not bad bad but enough to annoy me. So they told me the warranty won't go any further till i have a balance to see if that is the issue. Well it's not. Atleast this time if they replace it they said they are gonna you the factory axle. They should have done that to begin with...

Start simple, have the wheels balanced again. See if you can watch the road force machine show it's results. I bet it's somewhat common to have mistakes made there.

Well i took it to the place i bought it at an they are gonna replace the axle again. After i left there i drove out to nissan to have them recheck the balance. They ended up do another balance an alignment. Really don't have a shimmy in the steering wheel anymore. Still have a little shake. Both tires on the driver side have low tread an the passenger side tires are new. Replaced them 1 about 4 months ago due to a puncture an the othe 2 months ago for inspection. Guess i will be buying 2 more tires. I hope between them an the new axle i will be good....

Also, I'm surprised no one mentioned engine/tranny mounts. When your engine is vibrating especially on a FWD you will be getting vibration transferred though tie rods to your steering/suspension components.

Depending o how much play there is, sometimes it can be diagnosed by applying load(throttle) while driving and Rsometimes its not. At that point you have to visually check them as well as using a pry bar. Having someone place the vehicle while brakes are applied in "D" and "R" while looking at how much he engine/tranny rocks back and forth.

Well bought 2 new tires yesterday. Got some falkens. An they balanced the car again. Shaking has improved a lot. But i still feel like im getting a wobble when accelerating from about lets say 58 to 70. When just cruising at these speeds i really don't feel a wobble. I am really leaning towards this new axle being bad again. They ordered one again under warranty. So when i have that replaced again. I'll be able to see if it goes away. If not im at a loss cause i don't know what it could be. Maybe a bad inner outer tie rod or ball joint maybe sway bar bushings

When you get vibration when accelerating and goes away upon cruise mode as you stated, I would check the engine/tranny mounts.

I had a vibration at about 35-55, bad wheel bearing replaced. Fixed that issue.

I hope it is not the mounts. That seems pretty expensive to replace. Im gonna have the axle replaced again. I don't remember the car wobbling until i had the axle replaced. If i can't get the issue resolved i will probally step out of this car next year. Reading online i see these cars came with alot of problems from the factory. Some of the stuff i have read. I am amazed nissan never had a class action suit filed against them. There are alot of stuff i wish i would have known about this model. Atleast i don't have to worry about the tranny issue as i have the 6spd...

Well checked the mounts today. I think they are good. But i will still have someone else look at them. Put the car in neutral an reved the engine a little. really didn't have that much movement. Tried it in reverse an 1st still hardly any movement. I think it's the axle. Hope im right should know by Wednesday. When you replace control arm is it best to replace both at the same time or does it matter.

I'm afraid you did this incorrectly.
3 ways to check your engine/tranny mounts.

1. With a diagnostic scanner, while in live data mode, you will see the magnetic motor mount in (idle) mode while the Max is idling, but when throttle is applied the mount will go into firm mode.

2. With a long pry bar (I use a 42") as it gives me a good leverage and pry against the motor/tranny and see if you can see play when you are forcing the engine or transmission against both travel sides of the mount. Some play is normal but not much. This in a sense comes with experience.
Also, what's important while checking the magnetic motor mount is that while you try to leverage against the magnetic mount you need someone in the vehicle applying slight throttle to stiffen the mount(by current) in order to make a proper diagnostic.

3. You don't check the mounts while raving the engine in neutral as this is the state where the engine/tranny is without a Torsion applied load. This test is much easier to perform in auto equipped vehicles due to the fact that you will have to apply brake and slightly release the clutch at the same time in order to place a load(tension) on your engine tranny mounts while in gear without stalling the vehicle as in your case 6MT.
What I recommend is that you have someone watch your engine tranny mounts while you apply the emergency brake SOLID in first gear as well as reverse and release the clutch slightly while gently fethering throttle.(rocking the car) Make sure your assistant is in the clear zone if something were to go wrong.(stand to the side of the vehicle)

As far as your question about control arms is concerned its better to replace both depending on your mileage, play involved money status, As you will save on labour/alignment in the long run if you do em both. I've replaced a single(bad) control arm on many vehicles and after alignment everything was ok.

Hope this helps

Well i got the axle replaced today. So far so good. No shaking when accelerating yet. I drive it a little bit more before i say for sure the problem is gone.
