Default Doing My Brakes Again

So im gonna be doing my brakes an rotors soon. I have power stop rotors now. An after a year they are tarnished an rusting pretty bad. Looks nasty when the sun hits it right. lol.. So i was gonna look into some new sockets to do the job. Never really done brakes but it looks simple enough. But i was wondering what ya'll would recommend. I have a socket set. 1/4 3/8 an 1/2. But want to expand. Some bolts on the max require a deep socket. So i wanted to pick up a set. But don't know if i should get 3/8 or 1/2. For the brake calipers. An what point should i get 6 pt 8pt 12pt. Thanks...

I would use metric to begin with but 12 pt would be good to have with standard if you insist. I know the metric sizes. 14mm 17mm and 21mm for the lugs unless they have been replaced.

Yeah. I was wondering if i should get 6pt or 12pt.. Since i have sae sockets. I really don't need 12pt i guess. I have some metric already but want to expand.

6pt vs 12pt.

12pt is good for general purpose wrenching. When you get a bolt that is really stuck on, go with a 6pt because it makes more contact with the bolt and you are less likely to round the bolt off.

You will also need to get a 19mm wrench for the rear as you will not get a socket on one of the rear bolts. I also like to use a breaker bar to break rusted bolts instead of a socket wrench. More leverage and you don't have to worry about the internals of the socket wrench breaking causing you to smashing your fingers so hard that it takes the skin off to the bone. Prompting you to make a "man-daid" out of a shop towel and some tape until you get the brakes done and can make a trip to the ER for some stitches and pain killers.
