I have k sports on my car and i would around 4-5k id say and they still right pretty nice! If you want k sports i highly suggest going through me. I have a guy who is real close with k sports customer service and got me a real good deal plus a 18 month warranty! These are also the newer generation coilovers not the ones you adjust buy the spring. You set pre load and adjust the height with spinning the bottom of the coilover.

Welcome btw !

I'm in NE Ohio...the roads aren't the greatest (thank you NE Ohio winters)! I went with Progress springs and KYB GR-2 shocks/struts. We put some coilovers on my buddy's Volkswagen GTi (against my advice), and he absolutely hated them. He ended up switching back to shocks/struts/lowering springs.

Coilovers DO NOT play nice with road salt, and I know NY gets it's share of snow. My recommendation would be lowering springs and shocks/struts.

Where i live we get a LOT of snow and a LOT of salt.. and my coilovers were fine... Its all about the person and the ride they like, if you like your cars body being 95% flat taking a turn.. get coilovers. If you just want to simply lower your car but still have comfortablility than do what Hawaii did...KYB GR-2 shocks with progress springs...

http://www.extremetoyprotection.com/...ck_Covers.html

want to keep coilovers protected in the winter... here we go

I think keeping the car flat in the turns would be more a function of the anti-sway bars. The anti-sway bars control body roll.

I personally think that coilovers are meant for track, not to be driven day in and day out on streets but that's just my opinion. I've had them on a car before and it rode like a Go-Kart, got rid of them weeks after.

That's why people blow them because they are intended for track, you know smooth surface, not much stress on them. You introduce them to the street, speed bumps, pot holes, cracks, rocks all kinds of debris and there you go, 1000 to 1500 down the drain, why for the sake of looking cool?? Not to mention the stress it puts on suspension components and axles.

My car might not look as cool as yours but I guarantee you that it will outlast your suspension by many years. Money in the bank booty don't stank.

Well the newer manufactured coilovers i have should definitely outlast any older coilover system on the market, kid i got them from lives in queens, i think he was on his ksports for like 30k and they were fine... and you know how queens is.....its all about how you drive the car also if your a complete moron that hits every pothole in the road than you got a problem.... but you are definitely correct about the extra stress on suspension and axle components but that just gives you a reason to upgrade
