Default 2006 Nissan Maxima Brake/ABS Issue

Hello M6G. Like title says I'm having issues with my brakes, it 1st started 2-3 weeks ago, when the car was cold/sitting for a few hours I would remote start my car to warm up as soon as it warms up I'll pull off as I drive let say 2-3mins away from home & I come to a stop/press down on the brakes I would hear & feel the ABS go on, it started doing it just for about 2 times & it'll go away, but now I had the car parked for over a week without been used & now I drive & it constantly comes & goes. I took it to the shop my ABS light is off & the mech plugged in the computer & got no code, his suggestion was to continue driving it as is till it gets worst to see if he can find the problem, but I dont want to wait till it get worst, my girl drives the car also & I don't want it to break down while she is using it, plus I just want to resolve this issue to sell my car asap. Please any good helpful info will help out, Thank You!!!

That's weird, the same thing is happening to my max after I change the front wheel barrings the ABS would go on, I took it to the mechanic but he said that the front wheel was some at some angle cause of the damaged barring that the braked got adjusted and that was the reason the ABS would go on and he said it was going to go away but it hasn't yet, I've been really busy with work I haven't had time to get it checked out again. Hope you find out why its doing that.

Well it's not the ABS Sensor, Mech says next step is the ABS Module, I called Nissan the price is $1,300.00, my mech says with the shop discount I'm looking at $1,000.00 plus labor, so I made a decision and I decided I'm just sell the car as is, I just spent close to $3g in Sept getting the Tranny replace from Nissan along with a new AC Condensor & Shocks in June.

If you take it to the Nissan dealer, they should be able to hook the Consult to the car and take it for a drive. The Consult will tell you exactly WHICH ABS sensor is tripping. Maybe the one you changed isn't the bad one. My car was doing the same thing...ended up being the right rear sensor.

What does this mean specificly? Were the speed data readings moving in conjunction with each other under acceleration and braking.
A small difference of a split second of around 2-3mph will trigger ABS.
If you were getting very identical data from the sensors ( especially both rears) in conjunction with a code C1110 then you do need an ABS actuator replacement.

sorry for the late respond, but what I meant to say was while i was driving all the speed sensors were good and reading accurate.

I have been shopping around for a ABS module but I can't find a 06 Maxima, all I find is 04-05 and I do not want to take a risk on putting a older part and lose $$ & time.

^^^^ You keep driving like that it's gonna be more than the sensors. You'll burn out the ABS module.

Mine is doing that and I was told my rotors are warped. I will clean the sensors and see if that helps any but now I am worried its the abs system. That is gonna suck! Does your abs light come on? Mine doesn't. No codes or anything appear and the dealer did the test drive. Not sure if he hooked the consult up to it though. Probably not with no codes.

Default Re: 2006 Nissan Maxima Brake/ABS Issue

My 04 just started doing exactly what the original poster's car did 2 weeks ago. it is getting worse. no abs light, and it is really bad when stopping now. I have parked it for the moment so that I don't burn up the ABS module. yanking the fuse caused the speedo/ and odo to quit working, so that is not an acceptable temp fix (Seriously, Nissan what the everloving F#^& were you thinking in designing the ABS system this way?!?)

So I have found through searching the interwebs that cleaning the tone rings and replacing the right rear wheel bearing will fix this... but until I get some time to take the back end of the car apart, does anyone know how to disable the ABS *without* losing the Speedo or Odometer?

The sad thing of it is, I am driving the Maxima because the trucks A/C is out, and it is looking like fixing the truck's A/C is going to be an easier job than this mess...(Just needs a $0.25 spring clip and the accumulator/ dryer, some PAG oil and pull a vacuum and refill)

O.G, I am hoping that I don't have to go down that road... but that video on replacing the ABS module is awesome!

Thanks for sharing that.
