Default Stock Muffler / Resonator Delete

Don't know many that have just cut off the resonator and placed a straight pipe in its place. It's not much louder unless you go over 3-4k rpm :O
Ill post a before and after sound clip soon

Definitely want to hear a clip. I thought one or two did it but didn't like the results.

Honestly there's hardly any change in loudness. Sounds a tad louder than stock.

Should of just tried the ebay N1 catback. Probably one of the most effective way to get some performance and sound for under $350

Ok buddy. IMO that temporary mod is just a waste of money and time, you could of take that $50-100 that it would cost you and get the ebay N1 catback and do everything right the first time. You probably could of sold your stock system and gotten half of what it would cost for the catback, dunno if you know but that stock resonator is not cheap.

What cost 50-100 dollars? I spent 15 on getting the resonator cut off and getting a straight pipe in its place. I was just seeing the sound difference since I couldn't find anyone who had done this.

you're telling me a muffler guy usued his hoist to raise your car, power tools to cut the the resonator, a 15-18" piece of pipe welded it up and only charged you $15? I wish I had those type of links

Yeah? It only took 20 minutes or so. I guess your muffler shops like to over charge.

I live in the wrong country. Most shops I know will charge an hour labour $70-75/hr and maybe give a flat rate for small jobs but $15 is unbelievable

Hey william thanks for posting this. I am also planning to do the same. Cut off the stock resonator and put straight pipes in. Does it sound like a G35 when rev at 1-3000rpm? What RPM did you have it on to have the exhuast sound like that?

I honestly also don't hear much of a difference besides a little deeper tone. Maybe next step is to change the muffler?

And $15 is very cheap. My local is quoting me at $50.

It does sound a bit louder than stock when at 2-4k. Im not sure exactly how many rpms I reved it to but probably no more than 4k.

Yes you do bro. Come to the states. You never believe me when I tell you what they charge me. Plus, shipping charges are killing you.

Now that Ive driven it probably about 500 miles it seems like the tone has gotten louder especially on a cold day idling is quite loud. I havent gotten any better MPG and there isnt any drone.

If you do go the eBay catback route get the 2.5" exhaust. I've notice a little better pull from 40 roll and up, and the sound is awesome. All my previous cars where muscle cars except for the stupid Chrysler, so I am used to loud cars and prefer it. Just food for thought because in cabin it's loud. The wife doesn't like it on long trips.
