Default Intake To Exhaust Setup Suggestions Please

I have an 04 nissan maxima SE. I would like to upgrade my exhaust system to get better gas mileage. Hp would just be extra in my opinion. Looks like they don't have full kits. Also I don't want it to be too loud. I would like to design something with matching flow from the intake all the way to the tip. Whatever I need to gain more gas mileage. One last thing do I need to do anything to the timing or computer? I'm lost and need some quality advice. Thanks!

Fuel economy and quietness are my only concerns. Nothing ridiculously priced though.

I say start with the intake as well. Then go to a cat back and lastly a Y pipe. If you do those things you will notice a nice increase in power. After intake and exhaust do the CXJ spacers and you'll be happy as a pig in shit...

Yup. Intake y-pipe. An if you want to be quiet. Just buy some good mufflers to add to the factory exhaust. it already has a descent size. I think factory is 2.25. Someone correct me if im wrong...

More HP=More gas. Better flowing=increased MPG is a myth. I dont care what anyone says. Increas flow, increase power, increase power, burn more gas, thi sto me makes more sense then the Myth Also, if you dont want loud, leave it alone.

I kinda disagree. I have noticed since i installed my intake y-pipe an cat-back. when normal driving. I get a lot better mpg. But if you do all that to your car. Your not gonna normal drive...lol

My mileage has stayed the same. It all depends on driving habits. The increase in flow will gain mpg at a constant speed but all those mods make your engine work harder when given gas. You know, lose torque gain top end when getting a cai, y-pipe, bop. So this decreases mpg. In other words if you do a lot hwy driving, you will probably gain a few mpg at best, however if you do city driving you will lose mpg.

I personally would like a nice tone to my exhaust but not loud and annoying. Has anyone ever tried keeping the stock exhaust and just removing the resonator? It would be the cheapest thing to do and I'm hoping I can get a little more sound out of it. Any ideas on that?
