Default Installing eBay Catback?

Hey guys so if plans go as planned, I should be installing my eBay catback this weekend, I was convinced that it's easy enough for me and maybe on of my buddies to install instead of having to pay someone too install it, but is there anything I should know before installing it? And what's the best way to raise the car enough to work comfortable on installing it?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I paid to have mine installed but definitely stay safe under there, especially if you have to start cranking on it to loosen things up. I know some guys have soaked the nut/bolts over night WD40 etc.

Soak all the nuts and bolts in PB blast or WD40 over night. I used two ramps on the left side, had enough room to work.

I did the same but only lifted from the back. While I soaked the bolts I ended up having to torch them off. A grinding wheel on an air compressor may work as well. Just be sure to soak as much as possible. Use a wrench not an air tool to get the two bolts behind the converter off. That is the biggest part to remove. Then then twelve small bolts for the hangers and center bracket.:

3 on each muffler
2 on the split behind the spare tire well
4 on the bracket across the middle of the car
I believe these are all 12mm and the bolts by the cat are 14mm.

Good luck.

Its so easy... I used a jack and 2 stands. My wife helped me to do it and it was about 1.5 hours. Get your self a long pole to put on the end of your rachet to break the nuts by the Y pipe. Mine came right off...

What do you mean by "break the nuts by the ypipe" are those useless nuts that need to be broken off somehow or am I not understand
This is my first time doing something like this and I dealt don't want to screw up..do you remember exactly how many nuts/bolts I have too take off?

There are 2 nuts closest to the front of the car. Because of how hot they get they can be a pain to get off...those might be your biggest challenge. On mine they came off easy.

I gave the bolts listed above and their location. The two bolts 07 maximan is talking about are the two behind the converter. That is what everyone says soak and then use a breaker bar and a pipe to get them loose. if they break it doesn't matter cause the ebay exhaust should come with the new hardware.

It comes with nuts,so if you break the threaded piece youre going to have a lot more work.

Ps.I'm installing my exhaust instead of studying for a big calculus test coming up for college,

Sounds like me last weekend but it was an electronics exam. My ebay exhaust had bolts and nuts. My bolts had to be removed from the old exhaust though with a torch cause they stripped.

Oh so do you suggest just tightening the existing nuts til they break, or should I try and take them off first?

NO!! You dont want to break them....you want to just remove the nuts. The threaded shaft is pressed into the pipe. If you break those shafts it will be a total pain in the ass!!

Heres what I did. I found a pipe about 18" long, slide it on the rachet and break it loose. It was easy.

That is exactly what should do it if you soak the bolts and they are rusted too terribly.
