Default Installed Short Ram Intake (SRI) ... RPM Issue.. MAF?

Just hooked up the new short ram and the sound is great. However, at cruising speeds, the rpm is jumping all over the place, from 1700 up to 3000 and back. Does the ECU need to be reset after taking out the stock box or is there too much air turbulence causing spikes across the MAF? Disconnected battery and turned key to discharge capacitors, but the problem persists. Anybody have this issue?

Ive heard sometimes there is a MAF re-learning period, even with the ECU reset. How long have you had it on?

About 2 hours. Took it on a 15 mile drive, tried the disconnect battery et al trick, then took it out on another 15 mile drive, making sure to hit the entire power band short of red line. I guess I'll just keep the battery off tonight and wait a few days to see if this clears. I was just more curious to see if this was a common issue.

It's happened to a few others. Give it a day or two.

Dud you contact/bump the throttle body at all? Just something to think about...

Nice touch on the "et al." I only see that in scientific abstracts & publications.

Make sure all of your connections/hose clamps are tight. If you have unmetered air getting into the engine, you'll get all kinds of engine surging. Also, as stupid as it sounds, make sure your mass air meter is facing the right way. It only goes in one way (don't ask how I know). If you have it backwards, you'll have all kinds of issues.

You only need to disconnect for about 20 min. Mine did that when i put my K&N back in the FX but the battery disconnnect did the trick for me.

I had a P0507 code thrown after I installed my CAI along with the higher RPMs. I did an idle relearn (search for the procedure) and the code cleared as did the higher than normal RPMs.

Found the issue, and I feel like an idiot. It would appear after taking everything apart that the coupling for the throttle body was tucked inside the throttle body at the screw clamp. Removed, reset the coupling, and it's all good now. Be aware, that rubber coupling does like to flex and pinch-in on itself...
