Default How Much Will A Y-Pipe Change The Exhaust Sound?

Guys,

As the title states, how much sound difference will I get when I add the Racingline y-pipe to my Nismo exhaust? I don't know if I want it a whole lot louder than it is right now.

I have to be honest, when I first listened to your video I was surprised at how loud it was. I think if it gets any louder you might regret it.

The y pipe will make it louder and deeper... Youll prob have to add another resonator infront of the one on your catback. The precats dont change it the most

with the nismo and the greddy there is little to no drone.

with my y-pipe. it made my stock exhaust a little throatier. not much louder, just a little deeper. then with the Greddy, i have no clue cuz i added the Greddy to the y-pipe. and even that isnt too loud at all.

ill put it this way. i have a louder exhaust than the nismo and im not setting any car alarms off at all unless i rev while driving past them.

The 6thgens only sounds rice when you add headers with no resonator. TOO MUCH RASP!!

Add a decent resonator and you all settt.

That's the thing...the NISMO I got does not have any resonator at all. Guess I'll just get the y-pipe put in, and if it's too much, I'll add a resonator.

Yea Don... just put the damn thing in and then work from there... Resonators are not expensive. With the common exhausts available for our car.. its hard to make our car sound ricey. It'll always have a deep growl. [i think -- havent really heard any ricers]

You got the very same Nismo I did, right...the system without a resonator?

Did you post any video clips of yours? Does your car sound just like mine right now?

Yeah I have the same system you have, no resonator. I didn't post a thread or anything because I don't have anything that can take a good video.
Have you posted up a sound clip? I haven't heard it.

Thats weird there would be no resonator. I wonder what this would sound like on an Altima then...

Did you post any video clips of yours? Does your car sound just like mine right now?

is there a version w/ a resonator? if there is maybe the design difference is the reason you needed more of an extension.

Okk Don, got the Y Pipe installed. The exhaust definitely sounds more throatier on start-up and when I push it hard. Regular travel though there is barely any difference in drone.
I love this sound so far, I got a bit more of a gurgle/throaty sound now and it sounds amazing to me. Also, when I rev the engine now the exhaust will go up a little farther before cutting off.
