Default Exhaust Question

Hey everyone. Yesterday i installed my tein springs and my ebay catback while i had it on the lift. I ordered the racingline hi flo cats and y pipe too, just waiting for it to come in the mail. Well i have a 08 with the cvt trans and i knew the sound was gonna be funny. esp when your cruising at a low speed the rpms stay up a little causing the exhaust to stay at this weird low tone. I will be installing the racingline stuff next week and i think its gonna be to loud. Well my question is ... should i just cut the ebay mufflers off and weld on my factory dual tip mufflers? I think it should sound ok and won't be anywhere near as loud as the ebay mufflers. Thanks, sorry for the long post. -tom.

I also did some little modification to the factory rear muffler brackets. There was 4 bolts holding them on and the ebay mufflers were touching the bumper, so i removed all the bolts and lowered the hangers to the 2 lower holes and only put 2 bolts in and that solved the problem perfectly. If any one has that problem try that out, it was a easy solution.

Yeah i don't even have the hi flo's or the y pipe installed yet. I really think i am going to end up cutting right after the rear flanges and putting the stock mufflers back on. They look way better IMO and it should def have a low deep tone. I am going to get pulled over if i leave them on i know it.

Looks good, good job. Any other plans? I will install a magnaflow resonator when I put my headers and y-pipe on because yes, it will be loud. Post more pics of the drop, from the side.

I don't think putting the stock mufflers would be a good idea. The ebay catback is at 2.5" to replace the stock 2" piping (#'s might be a bit off). If you bring the larger piping down at the muffler you won't gain any airflow. You'll be restricting it.

^^ yes as mention it will restrcit the exhuast , and you may do damage to the OEM cats,

even after the Hi flo and y pipe is installed, I would recommend you investing into a resonator, the drone is going to be killer inside the car , let alone outside.

You should go with magnaflows mufflers if you want the dual tips. I want those precats and ypipes. Let me know you notice a difference when you install them.

I will get more pics once i cut the front bump stops next week. I def think the front is going to go lower after that because i think it is riding on them. I do have tons of plans for it just not to happy with the way things are coming out.

And as to everyone else i will have the hi flo's and y pipe on next week and i will drive it around and see how i like it. Having a cvt trans i should have known better but i still wanted to mod it because i am a animal with cars. And if i don't like it i will find some sort of stock muffler like altima ser and have them welded right after the flange on the ebay catback. I personally don't think its going to restrict it that bad, and i will like that it will be half as loud as the ebay mufflers. Cvt def sucks and wish i could swap to 6 speed asap. I had over 30+ cars and only like 2 autos out of all of them. I wanted to relax with the maxima and not hook it up so much. Ha lol never happens with me. It's def a addiction. Well rambling on sorry ...

I have alot i would like to do over time though. So far i have

R2c intake
Racingline Front MMI
Racingline Hi-flo cats and y-pipe
Ebay burnt tip catback
Tein springs
Kcmaxx Rear strut bar
Pioneer u310bt nav unit with the NIRD
2 15 inch zuez mid pass speakers behind the seat
Rockford fosgate amp
All LED's in interior
LED reverse bulbs
48 LED amber turn signals in front
LED plate lights
5000k 55 watt hids headlights
3000k 35 watt fog lights with yellow tint film on lense
2010 H11 corolla fog light harness (bypass the switch to have fogs on whenever)
20% tint
Carbon painted gas door waiting to go on.
370z 18's waiting to go on

I am sure there is more stuff i am forgetting. Not bad for 6 months. I def want a timing advance, i wish some one local could do it. I do want the Racingline front strut bar and some sway bars eventually. I also don't know what shocks would be best with tein. I am def thinking monroes. I also switched over to synthetic oil at 22k. Bought it with 19k in october. Well post back everyone. Thanks for listening.

I herd it was the one that had the most dyno proven power. I like it alot, i def. like the SRI intakes with the shroud. I think there safer against sucking up water like cold airs and the shroud stops most the heat from getting at it. Heres a pic for ya..
