Default eBay Catback Exhaust Setup

I don't know much about cars, but I have a friend who is going to help me out. If I was to buy an eBay catback exhaust like this one

Nissan Maxima 3 5L SE 04 08 63mm Performance Dual Catback Exhaust Systems | eBay

Would it be as easy as it sounds? I've read the threads on eBay exhausts and they sound like the way to go for someone on a budget. Also, my friend mentioned something about tuning it, would I need to tune my max after a catback? Thanks!

I doubt you would need a tune but a friend to help should make it easy. Where are you at? Be prepared for rusted bolts on the pipe and soak them with penetrating oil. It is easy enough.

sounds good, thanks for the info. As for getting the cheapest, is that the way to go? I just assumed a $350 one would be higher quality than a $180 one. I don't know what to look for, so naturally I'd think the pricier one is better. Maybe not though?

That sounds great..I'm gonna order it in a couple weeks (next paycheck). Is the y-pipe something I should look into also, so I could knock it all out at once? Or would that add much to the cost/difficulty?

The y-pipe is a little over 300 shipped on its own.. So for both you would be looking at 600 an some change.. With the right tools install should be some what easy. I did have the y-pipe installed at a shop for 30 bucks though. It is more involved. An it deletes the third cat. So some shops might not be willing to do it..

Oh okay, I'll just stick with the eBay exhaust for now and maybe do that in the future. Thanks for the info.

The eBay setup will come with one but it's small, so you'll have a lot of drone (I did). I put my stock resonator back in.

The eBay is decent for the price. Like Frasher said it will drone. For me it was too much. If your looking for HP gains the Y Pipe would be the way to go. I would do the Y Pipe and get some weld on mufflers.

I think I'll do the eBay catback for now, just because it seems like the most affordable by far. Later on I'm guessing the next step would be to get a y-pipe.

If the Y-Pipe is $250 on that deal, and mufflers are another $100-$200, then I'd be spending at least $350 compared to the $180.

Would what you are saying go along with an eBay exhaust, or is that something that I would add to it? I'm learning a lot considering I have zero car knowledge, so I appreciate the help.

I'll think about it, you can see my last post which explains my reasoning. Thanks for the heads up though.
