Default A Couple Of Fujita Questions

This past weekend I picked up a Fujita from a local member. Right now its set up as a short ram, which Im going to try first. I also have the piece he cutoff to make it a full CAI,which I might try later.

Now, I had a Fujita when I first got my car but sold it for a couple of reasons. One, I was scared to death of hydrolock. Two, it seemed to take some of my bottom end away. There was a lag, would be the best way to describe it...

Did I miss something the first time? The guy I bought this one from said I should clean the MAF,TB and reset the idle. I never did that stuff the first time so maybe that was my problem.

What should I be careful of or make sure I do when I install this again? Any hints or tips would be great...

BTW, I did read the sticky but I dont think I got my questions answered...

When you install it just dico your batt for like a hour and youll be ok. It not recommended to touch the tb as youll get abnormal idle and ita hard to relearn as per eddy.

no. install, unplug the battery for a little bit, plug back up. all good. you dont even have to do that. install it and after a while the car will relearn its air intake itself.

I would still clean the TB and maf while youre there.. I done it dozens of times when I had my Maxima and never had any issues with the idle.. Trust you going to feel the difference. It will only take less than 5 minutes to clean those parts.

DO NOT touch the throttle body. You can remove it and just spray it from a distance. Otherwise if you touch it...your idle would be screwedd forever!! Well until you get a new one and have it reset by the dealer.

They make a dedicated throttle body cleaner spray. I wouldn't spray anyting into the throttle body...just spray a rag, and then wipe down the inside of the tube...as Eddy said, do not touch the throttle blade itself.

Wow, interesting timing i ran into this. 2 weeks ago, i did oem spark plug replacement with NWP spacers. i cleaned (carefully) the TB with brake cleaner on a rag and wiped it down. i pushed the plate so i could get it all clean.

after the install, i let it sit for a few hrs while i showered and ate dinner. came back, did the idle air relearn. first time, idle got stuck ~1100. drove around, idle still didn't go 650 +/- 50 (for MT). went to a lighted parking lot, did it again, and it finally dropped down to acceptable range. once thing i notice now is that when i go somewhere, park, turn off car, go get groceries or whatever, come back out, the starting seems somewhat hesitant, but its here and there. i also replaced the battery a week ago. at times, it fires up, but sometimes it hesitates, and then fires up.

Yes, but do not touch any of the inner parts. Most people think they can just open the butterfly and fully clean it. But everything is electronically controlled. So once you move the butterfly, as they say in Brooklyn..."You're Assed Out". lol

So far I don't like Fujita at all. I cleaned the maf sensor and it had dried up mud on it. The idle got better and stronger.

So are you saying that happened because of the Fujita??

Yes but you have a short ram. I just don't like the low end loss. My exhaust did better without it. Maybe you can try a better air filter.

The low-end loss from a COLD AIR INTAKE is nothing extreme. Remember that with just about every mod... the horsepower gain is +/-. You lose something here and you gain it elsewhere. In this case, you lose a little lowend and you gain it uptop.

Mods thats really hurt your low-end are SSIM, and upper/lower port n polished manifods. But the theory is that you gain this uptop. For the average daily driver... I wouldn't recommend because you will think your car got much slower and is less responsive. For someone going a full performance route...this would be ideal but you now have something to tune.

For something like a Fujita, I think a little low-end loss is fine because you gain much more uptop and its proven. Its definetly not a dramatic loss. I always loved my Fujita when I had it and always ran it cold air.

Fujita FTW!
