Default 07 SL

I'm pretty new with all this and finally have some money to blow on this car. Why this car? Well I've been in love with 6th Gen Maxima's since they came out and I finally got one a few years ago.

I have the SL fully loaded with all comforts because I like the luxury ride. Now I want to get some performance out of it as well. I was looking at Magnaflow exhausts because I like the sound.

I know nothing about Air Intake as their is some much literature out there with everyone claiming to be the best, then reading about air filters turning into engine sanders, its all very confusing.

Basically I'm not going to the race track or drag strip and I'm doing most of this for looks and sound and hope to gain some HP in the process. The more the better.

So with all that said, I would like some recommendations on Exhaust, intake and brake kits. head/tail lights. Also, how much HP could I realistically expect from changing stock parts to performance and having it put on the dyno. My budget is 7k.

Well, there are lots of folks who will argue for and against intakes and exhaust setups. If you want to feel certain gains in power, then I would suggest getting lighter rims and updating your suspension. You have an SL, which does not have the sport suspension, and it is an 07, so you're due for a suspension update. The light wheels will also allow you to generate momentum much faster than the stock wheels. Also, get some tires that have a high speed rating; their sidewalls will be much stiffer, thus allowing you to get up to speed faster. A stiffer car is a faster car

You will noticed some good gains just by doing that.

I agree with Terrentius, light weight rims and suspension update is good way to go. Just remember,if you lower your car, it will lose lots of its comfort and more likely you would get vibrations because of the lowering.either commit to coilovers (so that you can lower your car just enough not to get vibrations and at the same time improve the stance of the car and have some adjustments for the ride quality as well) or go absolutely stock. The reason is that lowering springs available for our car, lowers it pass the threshold(1" drop) of not getting axle vibrations, with coilovers, you have control over the lowering
