Default Wierd Engine Whine Noise

Lately, I have noticed a weird noise when I accelerate and when my car is sitting idle. I hear both a whine and a sort of drowning noise when driving. My 07 Maxima has 75,000 miles and so far hasn't had any major problems. I was wondering if this was part of the "dreaded" timing chain issue. I included a video link. Help is appreciated!

Hard to say, havent heard of the 6.5s having the timing chain tensioner issue. I thought the issue/flaw was taken care of with the 6.5s, but I may be wrong.

Any way you can get some decent video?

Can you tell where the sound comes from?

What mods do you have?

That's what I heard too. But after seeing some video of other maxima's ,it started to sound like it. The video was taken from my phone. I'll try n post a better one. For the most part the noise seems to be on the passenger side. No mods yet. I had all the belts replaced 2 months ago.

Man, totally missed that video link on my phone, sorry man. That vid seems fine.

The whine sounds more electrical, or maybe like a pulley or bearing. It doesn't sound like the tensioner problem others have posted.

Did it happen right away after your belts were replaced?

Lol...I was just about to re-video. I thought that too about the pulley, but I took the car to the stealership and was told everything was fine. Confused cuz they usually try n skim off money any way they can. Haven't really noticed exhaust noise, but I sort of hear that heat shield noise when slowly driving. Also mentioned it to stealership with same reply.

Mine makes about that same noise when I drive in manual mode (07 with 45k). It's always done it I think. It seems like the longer you drive in that mode the worse it get's, and after it's loud, even in neutral, if you rev it you can hear it. Do you drive in manual a lot?

I personally think it has something to do with the CVT getting hot, and I have never really had any problems. I did just find that I am leaking a little tranny fluid, but it made the noise long before that.

I don't really drive in manual that much but when I do, I feel it sounds better than in automatic. I took it to the dealer this past weekend and was told that they can hear whine and that it was the timimng chain. Quoted $1200. Not sure if I'm 100% on there diagnosis after reading some other posts.
