Default When To Replace The Pulley....

My car should be in the shop this tuesday to get headers, bushings, and a tie rod put on. Figured I'd look into replacing my pulley while i'm at it since the car will be in the shop.

But I can't completely figure out if my pulley need's to be replaced. I am only guessing because when i step on the gas pedal i feel a pulsating vibration as well as a odd knock/light saber sort of noise from the right side of the car. Usually only happens when i'm around 30-65 and accelerating. If someone can just confirm it's my pulley or even if it's something else it would be appreciated.

thanks in advance

You ALWAYS describe every problem you have as light sabers and star wars. Are you sure you didn't drop your light saber under the seat? Kinda sounds like that metal/gusset problem. Did you ever get that fixed?

Pulleys don't go bad like that, the seal may leak , if its pulsating, that could be rotating mass on the front wheels ( Rotors , Tires )

Ive seen pulleys (mitushitty) come apart on itself and you will know its done !

Thanks for the reminder. The noise is kind of similar, but did you mean the exhaust bracket or shield (forgot the name). I remember getting something with the exhaust replaced 3 years back.

Nizmo- Thanks for the info. I guess I'll see once the car comes back from the shop.

Yes that. I had mine break twice. Might be worth a quick look. It's in the general area that you're describing.

Are you sure you don't have a bad wheel bearing? That could give you the "lightsaber" noise on acceleration.

If you replace your timing belt, they will be in there, you might want to consider a pulley replacement. Either lightweight, or UDP. The stock pulleys are pretty hardy, I agree with Niz I don't think it would wear out. Heavy duty

Man, do you remember Craig's response to the last one about the brakes sounding that way? I can't remember if it was here or on 6thGen. That had me rolling. It was classic @Max Power
