Default What Would You?

Really need some help donít know what to do? I have a 2007 maxima with 80k on it. I got my timing chain replaced under warranty. About 4 months ago my car starting shaking at idle it only does it when reaches normal temperature. The shake is not too bad but enough to annoy the heck out of me. The car ran like shit and gas millage was 14 mpg ouch!

So far I have gotten my mounts checked and no issues. I have searched every single forum that I could find and there is not anyone that has the same problem. From what I searched everyone says spark plugs coil pack or fuel dampeners. So yesterday I changed the spark plugs and moved the coils around to see if I get a light. I also changed the fuel dampeners there was a tbs on the dampeners so I got new parts and changed them out. The job only took me 2 hours and it was fairly easy. While I had the manifold off I looked at the valves and they look pretty clean. After I put everything back the car is running great but the shake is still there or rough idle. I started doing some more research and decided to clean the Maf sensor which did not help. While I had the manifold off, I cleaned the throttle body and the manifold. After all that the rough idle or the shake is still there.

Doing all this got my millage to 23 and the car runs great but it still shakes. If I have anything change in the cup holder and I stop at the light I can hear it and my passenger seat vibrates also. I am very confused and lost as to what to do. I keep checking the computer and there is no light nor any codes.

What should I do? I was thinking about going to the stealership as a last resort but since there are no lights I am pretty sure they will say everything is ok. I have already spent $200 for the tune-up in parts and the stealership will charge me $100 for nothing. I do have a question could it be my coils and if it is the coil shouldnít my engine light be on.

Damn, that's tough man. I have no idea what to suggest on that. Do your RPMs jump at all when you feel the vibration?

I am thinking I need to may be waste the $100 and go to the stealership. Question is should I have them do 100 point inspection or just look at the Idle issue. They both cost the same.

if they cost the same, have bring it in for the 100 point and tell them about the problem, they should look into it slightly during the inspection. That is a random problem that i've never heard or seen anything about through my years on the maxima forums man, sorry to hear it...

If your timing is off, it could cause a rough idle. There are no dips in RPM when it is idling rough?

if you do go to the dealer, make sure you go on a test drive/road test with the tech to show him the ruff idle. Make sure the radio is off and its quiet as possible. Good luck

Does you rpm jump and does the shake go away when you press the gas.

RPM is hgh only on start.. once she warms up it's back to normal, but it's kinda normal. However, not to compare it with a HONDA Accord.. but the tranny went out and did the exact same thing. Now comparing to my MAXIMA and I'm ISOLATING the situatin, I have tranny problems. I THINK! my Max revvs up high on acceleration if you were to gun it.. but if you ease into acceleration, she takes off, but I have BOP in my car too and started to do the revving thing once it was installed. like I said, I'm isolating my car because of possible CVT issues.

Cynthia,

I noticed the same exact thing. My car idled sooooo smoothly and when I had the ignition advanced, now it's a little rough. Nothing that makes it undriveable, but I definitely notice a difference.

Just got back form the stealership and they told me all my injectors are leaking. I looked at them and I smell no fuel has anyone had their injectors leak. They also told me that one of my coils could be bad but there are no codes in the computer. I am not sure what to do now should I change my injectors or coils. I am thinking they are just trying to get $2000 out of me which is not going to happen. What are the symptoms of leaky injectors. How can I make sure.

I dont see anything that they are talking about and yes it was a visual inspection. I am thinking about washing the engine and see if I see anything or smell any fuel. The other thing is at this point it is the injectors or coils because plugs are changed already just dont know which one

so I was bored yesterday and decide to do some diagnostic. I started the car up and unplugged the coil one by one I could reach 4 of them I couldn't reach 1 and 3. I got codes for all the rest of them since I unplugged them one by one but my engine light didn't come on. The only reason I did that is to find out if one of the coils is not working the engine will still run fine if I unplugged the coil that bad.* I know its not my injectors like the stealer ship said. My car starts up fine I don't smell gas the car is not running very rich. If all 6 of my injectors were leaking It would flood the engine and It would be very hard start. WHAT DO I DO NOW I AM LOST.

this may sound stupid but what grade gas are you using? please tell me its not the value gas down the street that has long lines of cars waiting to flood there tanks with 80% gas 20% water crap. reason why is that when i first got this car and put that kind of cheap gas that was 20 cents cheaper and 87 octane the car just seemed like i pissed it off. i used that sonoco 110 octane mixed with 93 to burn any crap out of the engine and has used name brand gas like shell , mobile , or exxon that claim they put additives in there gas and my car has run fine ever since.

on my motorcycle i made the same mistake and had to get the cheap gas removed out of it completely because it shut the bike completely off.

never use cheap gas

Man, I'm even more lost than before. It's very interesting to me as I'm just about to hit 62K, but have yet to experience anything like that. Hope you figure it out dude.

on my motorcycle i made the same mistake and had to get the cheap gas removed out of it completely because it shut the bike completely off.

never use cheap gas
I made the mistake of using Speedway gas in my motorcycle and ended up fouling all of the carbs due to the bad gas...NEVER AGAIN!
