Andy, I personally am not familiar with Nitro. I will try to help you search for topics on the subject.

I am sure you will hear from more informed members. It may take a day for some members to find your thread.

I did find this:

Plugs would be a good start based on what size shot your going with. I have heard a 100-shot max as the safest for a stock motor. You want to avoid the advance timing as with nitrous you usually want to retard timing if it is a large enough shot. A tune is nice but can be costly. For tuning I hear the SAFC2 or neo are the places to start. There is definitely good advice on this forum and a few others. Just take the time. and make sure you mount the nozzle at an appropriate distance from the MAF sensor so as not to cause issues. I can't tell you that one on these cars.

Good luck and be safe with it!

Default Re: What Do You Need For a NOS Wet Kit?

Depending on the health of your motor... I would start with a 55-shot and gradually move up. By the time you get to 100shot, you should retard your timing by -2 degress bringing it to 13 vesus stock 15 degress.

You should def. have a full exhaust, cold air intake (or shortram) and good healthy plugs. Spacers, block-off plates are a + but not really needed. They sure help though if you can.

For a 55-shot you don't really need a tune. I would suggest installing an AEM wideband. This will tell you if you're in trouble (running too lean or too rich). By the time you move up to a 100, I would get a Air/Fuel ratio tune using an APEXI SAFC2. Pretty much all you need to make your setup work efficiently. Nitrous is as needed so you'll be ok. I would NOT spray like everyday as it will take a toll on your transmission. To help your transmission handle the nos, I would get a tranny cooler and an RPM switch. RPM switch will prevent the transmission from hard shifting into the next gear. NOS will kick in right after the next gear.

Hope that helps.

Can I ask a question without sounding like a jerk, but why would you want to do this to a Maxima??

Why wouldnt you start with a better platform? I used to have a Mustang Cobra and with that car, skies the limit!! With just a little bit of money that thing would chew up and spit out any Maxima...

Im not trying to start a big debate,I was just wondering what you would do with a juiced Maxima? What class would you race? What kind of times could you expect?

Kevin007 ran 12.8 seconds on a 6thgen with a 75shot. He didn't even have headers or a tune. If he had that... he would have easily hit low 12's.

Its not about the platform. The Maxima is titled 4DSC for a reason. Its a family car for the family...and sports car for the enthusiast. Mustang are generally not family cars.

For what it is... a 6thgen can run 12's no problem and still be a smooth comfy daily driver. Generally called "Sleepers". And also Kevin had a stock 5spd Automatic tranny.

That's the beauty of it. People don't expect 6thgens to be fast. They weren't meant to be fully-built race cars either. But they can be made reasonably fast. Yes, a mustang with a chip or something can probably smoke it. But you'd be surprised as to how the 6thgen holds up.

I balanced mines with show + go. And honestly nitrous best most cost efficient way to go.

No DO NOT tap into the o2 for your A/F

Always weld a new bung and have a seperate WideBand to get a accurate reading.

You will need a SAFC or piggy-back like UTEC for tuning and Fuel delivery.

Remember you are using a WET shot VS a DRY shot, you will need colder plugs ( depending on the shot ) but still new plugs when you spray. I will have to check on the GAP for the VQ35 with a WET shot.
