Default Valve Body 5AT Same As...

Is a 2004 Valve Body 5AT the same as the 2005 5AT? Is it swappable or just a waste of time and money? Trying to get my car back together and i keep hitting dead ends

Default Re: Valve Body 5AT Same As...

Although I can't confirm 100% that it won't work....

Here is valid information I do know... the 2004 5SPDs didn't come with a heat sink like the 2005 5SPDS. That is a big difference in itself. The tranny was revised in 05 due to so many early production issues of the 2004 models with the 5SPD trannys. So swapping an 04 5spd Valve Body to an 05 5spd Valve Body that is prone to problems (based on research) is not a smart move if you ask me.

Hope that helps. My view with this... I wouldn't even bother wasting any money on attempting it.

transgo kit was either installed wrong or didn't work. tech at transgo had the mechanic preform tests but couldn't figure out the problem. After the install the car wouldn't go into reverse.

Story with 5AT 2004 Valve Body:

My Boy Jeremy has an 04 5AT and was having some problems with this tranny (having it stay into 5th gear and not moving). He payed and got a new valve body into in tranny and experienced the same problem. It ended up being a combo. of a lose wire and two cam. sensors. So he had his old Valve body from his headache. So He's letting me try it and see how it works out in my favor.

Because of the transgo kit etc my VB is completely F@$&ed. I advise against it or know someone who's successfully installed one before. My car's been in a tranny shop for two weeks with no outcome b.c. i refuse to pay a grand on a new valve body.

Here's my options:

Try the 2004 5AT Valve Body

Buy a rebuild Valve Body for around $500

Buy A New one from the dealer for $1k.

That's why i'm interested in the 2004 5AT V.B. for my tranny.

Well bro ultimately... The best option will be a new VB. With used you are taking a chance which might either work out really well or last only so long requiring more money to be spent. Of course if it doesn't work.. they'll exchange but that won't include labor costs.

3 Options:
For $1,000... you could get a used transmission from a junkyard not including labor.
For $1,000... you could get a new VB from dealer not including labor as well.
For $500... you could get a used rebuilt VB not including labor.

But then again.... if your transgo was installed properly... it might have saved you from having to do this now.

From experience I have the Transgo upgrade kit on my 4thgen and its amazing. Its a very delicate install and is something that requires excellent knowledge. Usually people who install it wrong will blame the issues on something else. You should drive my 4thgen and see how quickly it shifts.
