Default Transmission Rebuild Question

The other day while my car was on the lift I did alittle looking around. I looked at the transmission and it looks like it has been in before. There is black and orange silicon kinda protruding along the seems. Is silicon safe to use along with a gasket? I read that certian cars should not use it with tranny fluid becase it can cause valves to stick in trans.

Pretty much sums it up ,

OEM Nissan Silcone RTV is grey , so if theres orange or black there, the previous owner must have swap tranny or serviced it before
