Default Transmission Issues Due To Big Wheels

I have a 2007 nissan maxima which has been giving me issues recently. every time i try to accelerate and press down on the gas, it won't accelerate all the way but i do hear the gears shift. At first, my car would do this occasionally but no it is constant. I finally took it to Nissan dealership and after running diagnostic test and running what they called "pin test" to check the transmission, the final verdict was" due to your big wheels it is throwing of your sensor". It sounded like a bunch of bullshit to me.The weird thing about it all was that the person servicing my vehicle changes all my wheels to oem 18" wheels and the car ran perfectly without any issues. I took my car back home and have not had any issues yet. what do you guys think? i have 19" 370z wheels 19x10 all around, but these weight only 23.8 lbs and the guy said to me "its not the weight so much but the wide diameter of the wheel which is causing these issues with your car." Could it be that i had a loose sensor or something and after they ran diagnostics/reseted all the codes it fixed itself??? Im lost and don't know what to think because their are 6th gen owners running bigger and heavier wheels and I haven't seen any postings that back up what i was told at the dealership. Sorry for long post LOL.

I forgot to mention that my engine light NEVER came on nor did any codes were thrown off but i was told that they were reset. And to add on top of that they said because i am lowered on springs that added to the problem as well. I had a bill of $300 just for them to tell me my wheels are to big and that was causing the issues. At the end, i did not pay a cent after I had a few words with them so they decided to not charge me at all lol.

OMG! They actually said that! That's a load of BS bro. They wont tell u that the non manufacturer rebuilt tranny is defective. Issues with plastic parts warping from heat and there's sensors in the trans to keep it from overheating. Trust when u get the first sign of anything ethics those trans it downhill till one day u go to put it into gear and it sits for a sec and then BANG into gear. Main issues r with the valve body. The manufacturer rebuilt took care of that prob. Look into a trans cooler or the rebuilt trans they don't cost that much. Bro they know and they also know that u be back.smh. don't be a sucka!

Yes! Cvt 5spd with triptronic. I have an 06sl and had the same transmission, got the rebuilt and was great! A couple months down the road I started dumping $ into engine work and decided to go 6mt. Found complete swap parts and now I have a 06sl 6mt and loving the shit outta it. I'm no super gear head but a gearhead none the less and I'm only stating from experience and putting my name on the list of that recall that Nissan wont own up to so they dropped the price on the rebuilt transmission. Every 6 and 6.5 Gen maxima owners go thru this just Google 04-08 maxima transmission issues and a whole bunch of shit will pop up including the suit against Nissan. If u get a rebuilt ull. Be fine and save the receipt coz u can get refunded.

Strait from the factory they only last about 65 to 80,000 miles. Like they took the "no offense " GM rout and design that shit to fail after a range of millage.

Maxima is an American car with Japanese influence! In Japan their is no maxima and their is no infinity! The Japanese maxima is called Nissan Fugo. And we all know that the g37 is just a Nissan skyline 370gt.

Ok. I'm just going off of research and the issues at hand with 6gen 04-06 and 6.5gen as far as transmission issues. This thread caught my eye coz I can definitely relate to 04-08 maxima transmission issues. Not really 08 as much as 04-06 maximas I think they fixed the prob by 08 somewhat. CVT continuous variable transmission. They came in right after 04 and the first car they put it in was the quest and they had maaaad problems with it. Then the 05 maxima had the option for the cvt 5spd triptronic, u know, the + - to the right of the D. Yo just trying to help coz I love 6th Gen Maxima and I know other ppl do to especially on this site lol.

Like u put it in D and go and its almost like a scooter how it sounds like its in one gear the whole time then u switch over and all of a sudden the shits got 5 gears u can shift thru. I mean that's pretty impressive and loved it at first but all my cars in the past were stick so when I found out that I got the last year maxima made with MT I jumped on the swap.

10 width in the front depending on the tire is pretty wide for the front but not unheard of in know theirs dudes running staggard 20's 10f 11r so i disagree with wheel diamiter such as 19/10 causing trans issues. now the problem being there before can play a factor but to to go up just an inch from stock hight is not much at all. question, how do u drive it? i drive my max pretty hard at times and that alone can create problems and not in just ur trans.
