Default transaxle and torque converter fill/reinstall ?

So I pulled my motor/transaxle.. Separated them....i was hoping to completely drain torque converter and put in a few quarts before reinstall...but I won't be able to get to dealership for a few days.

Can I reinstall empty and will the torque converter fill when I fill transaxle thought dipstick?

I've done the drain/ refill in the past..just don't wanna go through 16 quarts to change it all

Default Re: transaxle and torque converter fill/reinstall ?

it should eventually fill, you just have to go through all the gears first for a few times, but it's highly recommended not to let it run completely dry at first startup. it's like running the engine with no motor oil, running it, then filling it. The clutch packs may not have enough fluid pressure to engage the gears at first.
