Default Switching To Synthetic Engine And Transmission Oil, Need Help!

Hey guys, I have in 2005 six speed manual and I am switching to synthetic oils. I would look like to do it myself and was wondering if there is anything special I need to do to switch the oil.

Ive been using Castrol Syntec. This is the 15,000 mile stuff. I do remember reading some where before that when you use a certain brand you should stick with it for all your oil changes. I dont know if thats true or not,but the Castrol has been working just fine for me.

Yup. Check out the "what brand engine oil" thread. Lots of opinions & info there.

There's also a sticky for draining/flushing your trans oil as well.

Don't take it the wrong way, it's just that we know this topic has been covered a lot already.

You will hear varying advice about change intervals with synthetic, some say you can go 2,3, even 4 times as long than dino oils. With the Nissan recommended interval being 3750K, I usually change anywhere between 4-6K miles.

I have never heard anything special you have to do in order to switch, but the one constant I have heard is that if you do switch, it is not recommended to go back to traditional oil, especially if you're high-mileage.
