Default Sound

Quick question. My car makes a whine when it accelerates. Like a supercharger. Not loud. I noticed when I turn on the heat the idle drops like a power drop or something. Car drives normal.

What might this be? I'm thinking the alternator. The dome lights dim just a little while I start it.

Default Re: Sound

the bands in the alternator is going bad or the bearings.

if it squeeks when the A/C is on , that could be cause by the compressor wheel , which is a common issue on the older maximas

I neglected to even charge the new ac compressor after my accident. So I don't use it. The whine sound comes and goes. Alternator was replaced in 2007
