Default Re: replaceing engine

your suppose to take the exhuast/cats off for access to the carrier bearing.

Quick question , are you doing this engine swap with a engine hoist ?

cause if your doing it on the ground , its going to be a PITA !!

you need to drop the subframe ( if you havent already )

remove the rack n pinion and carefully not to lose the pin for the steering shaft.
move the powersteering lines out of the way,

take the shafts out , theres (3) 12mm bolts to get the axles out,

BTW , I think the issue is the tranny , it might not get pass the frame , I think that why the subframe comes off and the tranny has to be dropped.

maybe you might find a way around it , also let me ask , why are you replacing the motor ? whats wrongs or happen to the one in the car ?

engine came out the top with the trans no problem.. I replaced it coz one nite my son called sayn the car is maken a noise and it wants to die.. so I went to where he was and had him crank it up.. it was maken all kinds of clank and knocking sounds and the motor was wanting to come out of the engine compartment way off balance rocking back and forth. then he tells me about a month ago he changed the oil and it was had alot of fine metal in it .. so I figure it was a bearing gone bad then maybe a bent rod or two . so I jus decided to replace the engine.. found one w/ 14k miles out of an 05
