Default Replaced Valve Body Still Hard(er) Shifts, No Reverse

Hey guys I have an 04 Max with the same transmission issues as everyone else. I grew a wild hair and decided to go to the dealer and buy a valve body. I bought the valve body with part number 31705-8Y00B. I installed it and when I put it in reverse it was super weak. It barely moved. I put it in drive and it slammed into gear, it also shifts from 1-2 and 2-3 very irratically. It seems worse than it was. I parked it and took it to the dealer because on top of the hours of research I have into this I must have overlooked the reinitializing of the transmission. Took it there this morning, and it was a FAIL, and of course they were excited to tell me that it needed a new transmission. I now also have a 1060 part that I cannot return. I talked to Level Ten and they assure me that it can be fixed with one of their rebuilds. I'm terrified now. I'm not sure if the transmission is actually damaged. The car ran like a scalded rabbit, and only has issues with hard shifting between 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 2nd gear. Thanks so much guys.

The only thing that I don't quite remember are the washers. Everything else went as planned. If somehow I missed those would this ruin the application?

I'am pretty sure it would have an adverse affect . I would think it would loose some line pressure if you missed the washer . An automatic tranny should be worked on by trained pros .

I'm going to take it apart again and see if I'm missing one of those washers. I can't seem to figure out what they are called other than "governer apply gasket" and the dealer seems to have no idea what they are.

Also check out my thread on the relearn procedure on the valve body . You have to shift through all the gear numerous time's before you drive the car . Also if you have a bad valve body there would be some codes .

Oh...got ya. I just don't understand. I don't remember anything falling, and from what I hear those washers stay up there pretty good. I'm gonna feel so dumb if this is what's holding this car up! Are these symptoms of me "not running it through the gears enough?"

It probably hasn't been driven a half mile total. I just got in it since I realized I haven't driven it since the dealer reprogrammed the transmission. When it goes in reverse you don't feel it engage, but the motor actually revs like its going in park, but if you release the brake the car wants to start moving but needs gas to assist. Drive clunks like it has bad motor mounts, but when I would put it in gear before all of this the motor mounts seem fine.

---------- Post added at 08:36 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:36 AM ----------

BTW I'm still not sure how the relearn is done. Taking negative battery cable off sufficient?

I haven't taken it apart yet, but I called LevelTen and they have them for like 3 bucks a piece, which is where I should have sent the valve body in the first place, now I'm stuck with 2 of them lol.

Yep , mine was bad I got code P0775 first , then code P0775 and now no codes (knock on wood) . Just take it out and look over every thing also b/c with a new VB there could be a problem .

Well it's hard to explain , in these valve bodies there is so much going on that if you miss one little thing it could result in a damaged transmission . I missed one of the check valves when I put mine back together and that caused the first code . Second code was from 1st gear incorrect ratio which what I think was due to a weak LRC ( stock one) .

BTW the dealer said they weren't able to reinitialize the transmission. Idk if that is just them trying to get me to buy another transmission from them or what. He said it gets 75% of the way through then stops. I almost want to take it to another dealer, but I can't waste another tow and another $90.00 diagnostic.

Ok found the gasket and put it in. It still doesn't work. I'm thinking transmission is shot. I'm almost half tempted to put the old valve body back in at least it was running then. I think I just threw the money from the valve body I just bought down the toilet.
