Default To Replace My Engine or Not?

Here is the deal - I am right at 206,000 miles on my 04 Max (first owner bought it in 03). It cost $1500 for the timing chain fix but only $650 for a low mileage engine along with $500 to get it installed. Im leaning towards the new motor but would like to get a second opinion. What would you do?

I would swap the engine and keep the original engine and stroke it and build up the internals properly for boost over how ever long it takes.

I think that's a no-brainer...as long as you know the new engine is solid, go with the new engine...it's also cheaper!

Duh! Get a new engine, over 200K is to many miles to even invest 1500 to get the timing done.

im in the same boat. buy the motor and build up the old motor later. they say the vq's are a soild motor with lots of life but for the cost of repairing the old to replacing it with a newer , low milage motor you mine as well buy the replacement. at least you know how much you can get from these motors already. 8 more years in your case

Question, if he's got a solid 200K miles on the tranny, wouldn't putting in a new engine just toast the old tranny??
