Default Recommended Transmission Shops in NYC?

Hi everyone,

I have an 04 Maxima SE (5 spd auto) transmission w/107k that I believe is dead. When I drive it seems to be stuck in 5th gear and jerks really bad when shifting from park to reverse to drive. I know the transmission is in safe lock mode. I took to nissan dealer and said transmission needs to be replaced and would not give me code. I'm not sure if I can just replace valve body or rebuild transmission. Either way the lowest quote I seem to find is about 3k. Anyone know of any transmission place in NYC area (All 5 Boroughs are fine) that does good work and cheaper than 3k?

Thanks for all the help!

You are having the same problem that many others have, the transmission is limp mode, it is due to a malfunction in in the shift solenoid. When you go from drive to reverse, it takes a couple of seconds to engage and then slams in. You are better off just getting the transmission rebuilt, changing it for another might help, but what are the chances that it won't happen again. If I know of any shops I'll let you know.

Level 10 is close to NYC, but the price is simply expensive alternative. Trust me, I am saving up for my level 10 build on my transmission for my truck, but I am looking at 5k for it.

Sorry brother...I've got a CVT...that's all I've got! If you were in Ohio, I could recommend a decent shop...

Basically yeah, LOL. I am saving for the tranny build and the turbo build. There is a Titan with turbo boost. Look at Toomnymods on youtube, and you will see the Titan.
