Default Random CEL Help!

Hey everyone, So ive been getting a random CEL... when i go to check it, it comes out to be a PO507 "Idle Air Control" "System RPM Higher Than Expected".

Now, i look at my rpm gauge and its reading right around 700 or so...

so i looked on the DTC and it said my rpm is reading 1025, whereas on the dash its reading ~700.

So usually i do a manual idle relearn and then let the car sit overnight and in the morning the CEL is gone.

THEN, i cleared the code and everything, disconnected the scanner, turned the car off, plugged the scanner back in, turned the car back on and it still read the code even though the CEL was not on??? so i tried to clear it a few times and it finally stoppped reading the code..

What do you guys think may be the problem???

air mods are fujita, y-pipe, Greddy cat-back. (this problem will pop up every once and a while. most of the time it comes on is when i pull up to somewhere leave the car running, get out for 5 minutes and then come back to the car and the CEL would have came on. but it doesnt happen EVERY TIME. maybe once every 3 months... maybe more.) (btw, car is a 2007 with 68K miles)

sounds like you have a vacuum leak somewhere,

get your trusty brake cleaner can , spray very little around the intake manifold/ intake pipes ,throttle body , spray a mist and listen to the idle jump , if so , that's where your problem is.

basically when your RPM is higher, the ECU has a stock RPM set , your engine idle is higher (due to leak ) and it will trigger it.

another thing to look into is changing your PCV and check your evap and egr, that would also trigger the inadequate idle.

RPM gauge may read normal but you still want to check all that.

is the engine idling erratic than normal ?

im only going by your info , so in this matter what I stated is what I would start troubleshooting.

if the idle seems fine and car drives fine , there is still something triggering the code, maybe clog pcv that you wouldn't notice.

edit : also when you re-set the ECU does the code pop back up ? if not then leave it and dont use the code reader

the car seems to run normal and idle fine with and without the code. no power loss or erratic idle. when i reset the ECU the code doesnt come back for a long while. maybe 2-3 months from the last time it happened.
