Default Problem With Coolant And Oil Leak

it looks like they are separate.. meaning its not leaking a mix of coolant and oil, but its leaking both coolant and oil. I dropped it off at the shop this morning so I'll know what the problem is soon but probably not till later this afternoon.

never-mind! The "coolant" was actually dye they put in my compressor to see how bad the leak was. And the oil leak was from a bad gasket at the drain plug.

could be worse!

looks like its gonna be somewhere between $1000 and $1500, depending on whether or not my friend or the shop does it. But parts are looking at about $800 :/

If the compressor was still functioning OK and not noisy but just leaking refrigerant there's no need to replace the other parts of the system. If, however the compressor has self destructed it would be wise to replace the other parts. In either case you should always replace the dryer when a system is opened up.

yeah it sounds like a f'in t-rex when i turn it on lol.. very loud. the shop said they had never seen an AC compressor leak as bad as mine, and he couldn't stress enough how much he recommended replacing everything.
