Default P1564 Help 08 Maxima

My CC has suddenly stopped working. I can press the ON switch and it just comes on and flashes SET. It turned in a P1564. Sometimes it wont come on at all. I noticed this code refers to the switch so I pulled it, checked all resistors, checked all wires up to the clock spring and also checked both switches on the brake pedal. Everything is checking out ok. I was next going to check voltages @ the ecm. Where is this located on an 08 Maxima? And also, are the pins numbered for reference? Is there any relays involved in this? Any input would be great. I hate taking stuff to the dealer.

I believe the ECM is under the dash, behind/under the steering column. If you hit up @Danski6MT, or @NiZMo1o1. They can point you in the right direction.

Sounds like your Cruise Control Switch is bad. Seen it on another 6thgen a few years ago.

Are you referring to the switch on the steering wheel or at the pedal?

Steering wheeel. You can check the voltages as well but I don't know what they are. They are in the FSM.

Typically most people have had the switch replaced.

OK thanks. Just thought it might not be the switch since when it did engage it would still flash but the problem may be in the cancel or set part of the switch. Do you happen to know a part #, I haven't been able to find anything online and local Nissan tried to sell me the whole wheel for $800

Yes, the problem may be in one of the parts for the switches. Only way to find out is to check the voltages for each one and confirm if they meet the factory specs. Usually the dealer checks the voltage from each button to determine its faulty.

I think you should start there before replacing it. I'll try and find a part number.

Here's an example of a 2002 Altima that I found. I know it could be different but just an example of how it is test.

Values at the G/Y wire at the ASCD steering switch with the ignition switch 'ON'

ASCD steering switch is “OFF”. Approximately 4.0V

CRUISE switch is “ON”. Approximately 0V

CANCEL switch is “ON”. Approximately 1V

COAST/SET switch is “ON”. Approximately 2V

ACCEL/RES switch is “ON”. Approximately 3V
