Default P1273

Ok, I've had this error for quite some time and I have read every thread on every Nissan forum pertaining to this error code (including the one below) and I just can't get it to go away. It is the Bank 1 A/F lean. I have done the following so far.

- Replaced the sensor (twice)
- checked for exhaust leaks (fixed one but it was behind the cat so it probably wouldn't have made a difference)
- Replaced spark plugs
- Had the fuel injectors professionally cleaned
- replaced PCV valve
- cleaned EGR valve
- cleaned MAF sensor
- swapped the MAF sensor with one from a working vehicle.
- checked for vacuum leaks
- checked engine ground

It seems that people have done random things like replace all O2 and A/F sensors or replace the Cats and have had success, but those are pretty pricey. Is there anyone out there that can point me in the right direction without having to buy all of this other stuff. The car has 154K miles on it right now.

Thanks.

Scott

When replacing o2 sensors, you should always replace the Pair at the same time,

just like replacing tires or pair of shoes/socks.

anytime the exhaust has a leak this will cause these o2/ A/F sensors to go haywire,

The only suggestion is try re-setting the ECU using this method.

1)Disconnected the NEG and POS side cable off the battery.

2)go inside the car and turn the headlight switch to the ON position

3) touch the POS and NEG cable terminals for 5 Seconds ( Do not touch them on the battery post )

4) Very important - Turn the headlight switch OFF

5)re-connected the POS and NEG terminals back on the battery post.

6) start the car and let it idle for 20mins ( this should ZERO out the ECU , any faulty codes will not be trip anymore, if within these 20 mins a SES code does pop back up then that code is the real deal issue ) go drive around the block

if this code comes back , then what you said in the last statement has to be done , you cant avoid it

I'll try that tomorrow. Thanks for the help. The only other thing that I found today while searching around is possibly a faulty injector. If this doesn't work I'm going to take off the UIM again on Saturday and check the impedance and then flow on all of them just to be sure.

Did you by chance swap out the VIAS valve, for the plate? if you did, then that is root of your problem, you have an air leak there.

I didn't remove the VIAS valve.

I tried to clear with the method below, but it didn't even clear the codes much less the ECU memory. I've done the method in the book where you remove the connector to the MAF, run the engine for 5 seconds, then reconnect and let it idle for 10 minutes. The code comes back after 35-40 miles.

Well I took off my UIM again and checked the injectors and they looked good so I changed the left side A/F sensor and reset the ECU Memory and the code came back. I guess I will be ordering pre cats to install this weekend. I hope that works.

In case anyone else has this CEL code, I wanted to report back that it was the pre cats. I changed them on Saturday and no code after over a hundred miles. I guess I can get it inspected now.
