Default Nitrous

I've been wanting to put nitrous on my car for a while now, I drive a 07 maxima, I have a few questions, is there anything needed besides the nitrous kit and a tune, is this safe to be used at a red light in a drag race, and can normal brakes stop the car while nitrous is being used?

normal brakes will work, but for the stopping power you will want to upgrade to a BBK.

who knows how it will treat the cvt trans... the tranny will probably freak the hell out. lol

Is it worth it? Cuz I never been to a track never plan on going to one, it's mostly red light drag races or from a roll on the highway

Default Re: Nitrous

Most I would do on a CVT is 55-shot on stock setup. 75-shot would be ok if there are more supporting mods and a tune.

I would def. not track it due to the increasing heat temperatures that can damage the transmission. Especially due to the fact that the CVT is very expensive to replace and they'll probably void your warranty.

While 55-shot is cool, you won't be running 12's at the track with it. Just good for average pulls every now and then. It will also be faster than your average maxima.

Also, stock brakes are fine for a 55-shot. Anything higher would require better brakes to withstand the heat temperatures of extreme braking. You will def. need to SLOW DOWN!! And SLOW DOWN FASTER THAN YOUR NORMAL CAR!! lol

My rotors got warped one time using a 75shot. Those were the RotorPros. That's when i got the Aliens and didn't have any issues.

So if I get a 55 shot, I can do 1-2 block runs off a red light and be able to stop in time

Unless u plan on racing over 120 mph on the street or plan on stoping short you will not need better/bigger brakes. I would recommend against running nitrous on your car. Especially since you have a cvt transmission and 50-75hp on a 3600lb car will not give u the kick in the pants u desire. If you decide to get it never spray at a low rpm. If you will not be using a wideband run a bigger fuel jet for safety. Also heat is the enemy. Try not to spray Consecutively. No tune is necessary.

I agree, 55-shot doesn't feel like much. But it does have little pep. Ever since then I moved on to a 100% shot tuned (-2 degree timing, colder spark plugs etc...). But honestly, those days of RED LIGHT GREEN LIGHT are gone. lol

You don't really need a tune for 55-75. But at 75+, most people tend to have all the bolt-ons. At that point, a tune will get you the most power efficiently.

As for brakes, I did find more use of a BBK and stock. With nitrous, you tend to do much more braking. At least I did.

Hm let me get this straight , so If I get a 55shot I won't need bigger brakes and no tune, and a stock setup would work, let's say I'm at 0 mph at a red light and I hit a 55shot will I be able to stop when I need to like instantly or will the car just keep going and bad ending lol?, and also if any of you have a link to the 55 shot setup would be very helpful

Nitrous isnt like a gas pedal that doesn't come up till the shots done. If you can hit your brakes, then you'll be fine. But of you read what people say, ya don't wanna spray at low rpm.

I have a quick question, I was thinking of running a nitrous setup before maybe a 55 shot, but I heard and god forbid that you were to crash and any impact was inflicted the the tank or any of the nitrous components your car can catch on fire? Is this true?

You gotta try the track out, a couple runs won't kill it. Run without it first then run with your 55shot. Should be interesting.
