Default Need advice on transmission maintenance

Hello I'm new to this forum sorry if this has been asked already.

I recently purchased a 06 Max auto. The transmission went out 1 month later after i got it :. I got a reman put in by the dealership, but have read this is common on this particular model/year. I was wondering how often I should be changing the fluid to make this thing last. Also how long should I expect this new transmission to last? Im a bit worried since the original transmission only lasted 99k miles. Thanks .

It s the 5 speed auto right on that model year , if so ONLY put Matic K Automatic Transmission oil in there , DON T put anything alse that s not Matic K approved , Royal Purple Max ATF s approved by Nissan beside some other ones .

Had an auto & had this oil in tranny , was runnig great @ 118,k KMs , around 75k miles , with no issues at all .

I would suggest doing a simple drain and fill once a year. This will change out roughly 3 to 4 qt of fluid. Put a new filter in every to years. This is if you drive around 10-15k miles a year. If you drive a lot more or harder, do it more often.

I honestly don't know. When I first bought my car, I took it to the dealer for a full flush. I was quoted like $125 online which I was happy to do. When I got there they said a full flush would be $315. I said fuck that. They did a drain and fill. They said they replaced the filter too which cost me $135. I was not happy. They also couldn't reprogram my key fob. This spring I will be doing my own drain so I will find out then.

Do you have to squirt the fluid in from the side or something for the trans? I see that the quarts of the Matic K range from about $8.99 and up.

Fluid goes in from the engine bay - check the vid posted earlier in the thread and you'll see a small funnel where you add fluid in.

I wouldn't recommend a flush - just do a drain and fill. My understanding is that the throttle bodies are poorly designed which doesn't allow fluid to properly circulate and lubricate. If you flush it, you the run the risk of not being able to get fluid back into the throttle body after the old is flushed away.
