Default Manual Trans Whine In 2nd Gear Only

I have had my car for 5 years now. <2004 6spd SE> I bought the car with 24000 miles on it and it's now pushing 110000. There has always been a slight whine coming from the trans when 2nd gear was engaged. The sound was never really that loud and I just thought it was normal. Recently, I swapped out my performance tires for GT Kumho's. It's like driving a brand new car! But unfortunately, I noticed that the whine is much louder now and is present in the rest of the gears. Although 2nd gear is still the loudest. I have yet to do a trans flush and I suspect that the oil has never been changed. Could this fix my problem or am I looking at something a little more expensive??

ouch lol ... 70 k miles and no oil change might do it

im not a manual tranny expert but from the sounds of it your sync rows might be going out

do an oil flush and see if you see any shavings lol ... if you do you might need a tranny rebuild

This. Besides you should consider doing a flush.

I think you might be right about the length of time without an oil change! Probably not the best Idea going that long. Going to get a flush this weekend and fill with synthetic oil. The only thing is that I slide into gear the same as the day I bought it. What are some other signs of sync row failure?

syncros usually means your having issue getting into gears.

a whine could mean your low on oil, pilot bearing( throw out bearing )

Also, im not sure if this is related but I did notice when I did my last oil change that their was moisture forming at the bottom where the trany bolts to the engine. Its not a leak because their is nothing on the ground where I park, but enough to get me worried. Looks like oil but cant tell witch. My guess rear main seal?

if its leaking its bad already, it will just leak more and more puddles, there is no time line when it acutally on its way out.

it will just leak
