Default Looking For Engine...What Will Work?

I need a new engine, and want to know which years are compatible to drop in...From what I can find any vq35de that is setup for FWD will work. Is this right? Will anything from 2004 to 2008 fit...Also I have 6 SPD MT, will that make a difference? I've also found a place with a vq35de refurbished for $3900, problem is i have to wait 2-3 weeks for it to be ready with a 3 year/unlimited mile warranty. Is it worth it to wait or just find a used engine?

Any VQ35 engine will work. They were also in some Quests, Altimas and I think another model or two.

Basically any Vq35de will work up to 2009. The 09' and up use both variable intake and exhaust on some models. Your options are 04-08 Altima,Maxima Murano as well as Quest although Quest has a lower horsepower rating, even though the engine is the same....
My 04 had an leftover o3 engine and those ratings were different between those years. This leads me to believe that Nissan falsified the ratings....just something to keep in mind.
3900 for an engine is a lot of money. I found my 07 engine with 3500 miles for 2k. I would look around. There are some low mileage engine out there if you are not in a hurry.

The fact that you are 6Mt will require you to swap middle oil pan onto the donor motor. Your 6Mt tranny will not bolt up to the auto middle pan. there are 2 o-rings that you will need to order from Nissan that are placed between the block and the middle oil pan.
Also while you are at it, I would order a new o-ring for the oil cooler/oil filter assy. that mates to the middle Pan.

7th gen swapped into a 6th gen. That would be awesome. To bad they gave up on manual cars... Damn you Nissan.... What would be even better. Is if a G35 could be swapped...... But it's RWD..

I may have to debate about this on two accounts.

we have a (2) local members 4th gen with a 08 Motor CVT with the 5spd , no oil pan was required. But it was a the 5spd

I also went with to a 6spd swap on my 5AT with no issues at all to the pan.

OK...still looking for a engine, but I have some additional info...tell me if this makes sense.

A day or 2 before my engine took a major dump i threw a p420 (didn't think anything of it). friday before last my engine got hot, and started making noise...my mechanic said the engine is done...possible a thrown rod...i think what happened was the cat failed clogged the exhaust, and killed my engine...

now in addition to the engine, i'm gonna look for a new precat, my battery is dead so i'm replacing that as well, im gonna get the parts for the tensioner while i'm at it. i'm also going to get oil and filter coolant, and spark plugs..anything else i should get should get while i'm at it?

also is the upper or middle oil pan the same thing, or are they 2 different parts...i'm trying to give the shop doing the work as much info as i can, so that it goes in without major issues

EVERYONE THATS FOR YOUR HELP IN ADVANCE!!!!!!!!!

would love to, but since i have a "benefactor" footing the bill, performance isn't a concern, getting the car up and running is the primary and only goal

Both of you guys are on point!
I appologise. My info given was incorrect. Tranny will bolt on without a problem.

After my inspection today,I realized that I had swapped the pans for nothing after all. Long weekend at the shop, I had to get my car off the hoist for monday's regular business. Things were flyin
Again, My bad.

Sounds good to me. But maybe @BurntOrangeAppeal or @NiZMo1o1 would be able to tell you better.

Personally, I think its a bit high. you are going to do this once. Might as well find an 07-08 with less miles. I paid 2000 for an engine with 3500 miles( confirmed) delivered to my shop. Also they thew in a power steering pump. Just my honest opinion. Keep looking.

thats was an 08 engine...brand new cost $6000 from nissan, refurbished with warranty $3900 (from what I've found)...i'm going to start calling all of the spots that show up on car-parts.com and see what they said...4 years is a long time, so find a low mileage engine is gonna be hard. searching for an altima vq35 i've gotten some good hits, but has anyone here dropped in a vq35 from altima or a murano...just trying to get a feel for how much hassle i'm going to get when the work gets started

Sounds good if you are happy with that price and mileage that's all that matters bro. Altima will be a direct bolt on. Not sure about Murano's middle pan though.
