Default I Finally Fixed My Timing Chain

I want to share it with everybody who needs a timing chain job in Socal.
I found this guy that fixes nissan timing chains, and he quoted me only $710 for a full timing chain job and water pump. He only used OEM Nissan parts.
I left my car today at 6am and he got it done same day at 5pm.
He said that it would be $580 only for a full timing chain job w/o water pump. I saved about $1000
He works at Nissan dealer and only works on weekends at his house. If anyone needs information about him, pm me. I just want to hook him up because Its a killer deal.

Edwin is a cool kid. He does other stuff as well. Yesterday he did my brakes and belts. I bought my brakes ($100.00) and he got me the nissan belts and I think I spent $ 125.00 for the belts and install for belts and brakes. I will be going back for the timing chain problem but I only hear it upon cold starts for 10 seconds or so. Once it starts to bug me I will have him fix it.

nice, so he's pretty legit then?

i actually spoke with him yesterday for a short moment to ask for a quote but i also want to confirm with my local mechanic that it's a timing chain issue i'm having...it's a big job.

i'm just kinda curious about taking it in vs a actual shop.

This is the most recent timing chain thread, so I figured I'd post on here...

I'm not getting a noticeable rattle at start up, but after it warms up, and I've been driving for a little bit, I hear one. It's a sporadic rattling noise, but it sounds near identical to all the videos that have been taken. It typically happens when I hit the gas at lower speed, lower RPM, and then goes away.

Does this sound like a timing chain issue, or some other problem?

It could be. Your oil pressure drops as the oil gets hotter and thins out. You accelerate (add RPM) oil pressure goes up and noise goes away...have you cheeked your oil level. Do you see a pattern of the noise intensifying as it closer to change your oil? You might want to also consider running a thicker viscosity to see if it minimizes the noise. Sypathetic oil is great at resisting thermal breakdown, but runs much thinner then conventional oil.

I've noticed a slight rattle just before the last few oil changes, but nothing like this. It's time for another change though. What would you recommend using? I've been running Mobil 1 10w30. I definitely don't have the cash for a timing chain job right now, so if running a higher viscosity may act as a band-aid, temporarily, I'm all for that.

I would try running a conventional non synthetic or if you are dead set on synthetic, try running 10w40. It has the same viscosity when cold compared to 10w30, but when hot its slightly thicker.

That's a hook up of a job right there, for the money. He must have already done a ton of these repairs at nissan already. I just wish that actual replacement parts for the timing chain issue, were better quality and lasted way longer than 80k before they start to show signs of wear.
