Default Gear Shift Nussiance

For some odd reason when my 07 max is in Park i keep hearing and feeling this electronic/mechanical clicking noise originating for the gear shift. when i press on the brake it stops. and sometimes i can shift from park straight into gear with out securing the brake. This cannot be safe, is there anyone experiencing anything similar?

That's definitely something you need to get checked at the dealer bro. I wouldn't even waste time and wait for suggestions... get it checked.

I believe that there is a shift-lock solenoid that keeps you from being able to shift w/o having your foot on the brake.

I would think its a bad brake switch. Just barely making contact momentarily and pressing the brake pedal closes completely.

Pull the 10amp fuse for the "STOP LAMP" in the fuse panel under the dash. That should cut the power to the brake lamp lamp switch. You wont be able to shift out of park. But, if it doesn't make its funky clicking noise without pushing the brake pedal down then you just found the problem.

i did pull the fuse and it stopped for like a week then the problem persisted, so i went to do my 45,000 mile maintenance and i told them about the problem. Apparently the car did a self dianosis and recorded exactly how many times it made that gear shift clicking noise. The shift lock actuator was on the fritz as we expected but it turns out that the whole gear shift has to be replaced. so they ordered it and its soon to be delivered. thank God for extended warranty!!
