Default Gas

in my 06 maxima i only use premium gas and when i got it i started off getting 27 MPG....now im getting 23.8 and thats a big down grade...now i think its due to my transmission going out but i might be wrong.....im hoping when i get that fix it might help but is there anything else im missing that might be causing the drop in MPG....and also im thinking about putting a air intake on it...any ideas on a good brand as well????

here in Minnesota they put additives in the gas during the winter months. Which you get 3-5 miles per gallon less . That and people tend to let their cars warm up a lot more in the winter .

The best I have seen in my 06 is 24.1, which happened only after having run multiple tanks, sporadically, with a few oz's of 91% isopropyl in each. And, I was on a roadtrip with lots of highway miles. It has since crept back down to 23.9 back in town, but I have had good results using the 4oz per tank of alcohol overall, it brought it up from 21mpg over a month.

Transmission might be the issue but check and see if your O2 sensors are good and your air filter is clean.. A dirty air filter can cause a decrese in gas milage
