Default Extended Cranking

Hello All,
I have 2004 maxima ...recently trouble with starting. extended start...like holding it for about 10 secs and no start.....takes a couple of times to turnover. It has happen before once in a while not as bad as today. no engine code/light. Recently changes spark plugs for maintaince reasons, had a " stuck in 5th gear issue" changed both cam sensors....im not sure if its a crankshaft pos sensor or fuel pressure regulator issue....havent had a chance to test fpr. if it were a crank sensor id imagine there would be a ck engine light. i have 140k+ miles.......any suggestions.....fuel pump issue?

My guess would be fuel-related...strictly a guess from info provided.

My battery seemed fine too but it could be fuel related or starter related too.

Mine did that a long time ago, turned out the fuel pump went bad and the EGR valve was stuck open. Fuel pump was the first thing found, dealership replaced it and it helped but the car still took a few seconds to start. Then they found that the EGR valve was stuck open (after they found my pre-cats failed also), replaced all and the car was back to normal.

If the egr was stuck open.....wouldn't it cause a check engine light to come on.....

Not always. I had Autozone use their scanner tool and it showed no EGR codes, yet my car would sometimes take about 3-5 seconds to start. I had to take my car the dealer and have them hook it up to the diagnostic computer to find out what was wrong. New EGR valve and I never had a problem since.

So Friday night on the way home from work my car had the " stuck in 5th gear" issue again.....it ended being bank 1.....I just changed it on weds.....so that was the reason for extended cranking.......it wasn't a nissan part......got it at oriellys..... Thank you to everyone for all of the advice..... I am now a believer of genuine Nissan parts hahahaha
