Default Engine Whine Since New Belts

Title sums it up. Only happens when the heat is on, a/c option on or off, doesn't matter. Alot louder when in manual mode, probably just due to higher RPM.

Anybody?

They probably need to be tightened up. Paging @1hawaii50

They definitely need to be tightened. When you turn the A/C compressor on, it puts a pretty good strain on the belt, and if it is loose, it will squeal like a pig. I've recently started hearing some squeaking that comes/goes when I start the car. I need to snug mine up again. I tightened them twice in the weeks following putting them on the car.

Did you install yourself or have it done. I know some people have problems with the tentioners.

I did mine myself. Not difficult at all. Hardest part is getting the belts tightened enough that they don't squeal without over-tightening them!

No go, had the belt tightened today, it's still whining. I think my alt is on its way out (alternator #4 ...)

Would the compressor whine when the a/c mode is off? If I turn on the heat, but shut "A/C" off, it still does it.

when i barely got my 350z i would turn the heater on in cold weather and it would squeal for like 5 seconds, another thing i noticed was even with the ac and heater off when i would cold start the car it would squeal for like half a second right when my car would crank, changed the ac compressor and got new belts and wala! no more squeal, sometimes it could either be bad belts, loose belts or even belts that are too tight.

This is one of those times that to tight is a problem have you checked the belt tention by measuring the play and comparing it to the specs.
