Default Engine Trouble Help Please

Hey guys my 04 max has been acting up I pulled some codes off of which I will post for u guys but the car drives but struggles rpm shoots up when you hit the gas and all you can hear is the air intake and I'm only going like 15mph not sure what wrong with it. I took it to a local shop where I did my timming chain 6 months ago and they are telling me its miss firing and it might be a coil. But I don't understand that because the scanner would of said bank 1 and so on here are the codes. P0300 p1800 p0174 p0011 p0021 thanks you guys

Default Re: engine trouble help please

Bank 1 has nothing to do with coil packs. Coil packs are related to cylinders. They sit right above the spark plug, If one goes out, it will throw a code and tell you which cylinder is misfiring.

P0300 Multiple cylinder Missfire....< Too many misfires for knock sensor to pick up....This is not good. Avoid driving before you destroy catalysts.....

P1800 VIAS SV Circ....Either Vias Circuit or circulation Vacuum

P0174 Fuel System Lean BANK 2

P0021 Intake Valve Timing Control Bank 2

Before I can give you more help and diagnose this fully I could use more help. When did the symptoms start occuring, right after the timing slack adjusters/chain repair by the shop or some time later. This is important...IMO i don't thing you need coils...your intake Valve timing input output is the problem, hence the code for lean system...There is too much air being offered and computer does not know how much fuel to add as its well out side of Fueling Tables.....This could be an intake leak/egr also though...Both will cause misfires like crazy...Again make sure you avoid driving the car....untill you get this adressed ASAP.

Bingo, we have a winner. You air leak is coming from the VIAS BOP plate install, if you have the old gasket put it back on with BOP plate and it should clear some if not all the problems.

Ok so I got my car back from the shop and I put the vias back in. The car still has a lil shaking going on. The shop told me that one of my coils might be going. Not sure if they know what they are talking about. But I drove the car today and the check engine light started flashing. What does that mean?

P0021, you skipped a tooth in the main chain.
You need to go back and redo the timing. P300, most likely the plug in cylinder 1 is not working.

Spark plug. Check cylinder 1 spark plug.
I had identical symptoms as you. P0300 and 0021 when i skipped a tooth in bank 1 causing my spark plug in cylinder 1 to not fire at all because it somehow got damaged.

If you skip more than 3 teeth, valves are gone.
