Default CVT Squeal

Hi there, I have a 2007 Maxima SE w/a CVT and 53000mi and I noticed a squealing when the car is warm and the revs are above 4k rpm. I feel like its the CVT because some kind of nylon chain tensioner was replaced (recall) and im not sure what else it could be.

i am uploading a video to youtube where you can really hear what it is and hopefully help me out

Yeah what Nismo said, dealer. Its a good thing that Nissan has such a good warranty for the CVT.
Nissan Canada just announced that they will honor the CVT warranty to 200,000km for Canadian vehicles

The squeal part was throwing me off, I'd say that's a whine. No matter though, it'd bug me too.

Does the whine go away if you're driving and then shift into neutral?

Does the pitch of the whine change if you shift to different "gears?"

How are you hitting such high RPM at that low speed ?

Are you using the Tip Tronic Manual wana-be thing? I would 100% not use that mode at all, if anything it possibly would cause strain on the tranny and possible damage. They are used I believe for mountains and 'towing', not sports mode like that of a BMW. Because that would make more sense for it to make such a sound, for it is strain.

If it makes that noise in DRIVE then it might be the CVT but I doubt it, I would say it would be more of a belt or anything else.

In a split second at 1:12, you can see on the dash that he's in "first" gear. Looking at the rpms and hearing from the sound, I don't think he shifted...Was on 1st gear the whole time... I may be wrong but clarification would be good.

Yea, it just is a good idea not to use the "gear simulation" function in our car, it first off doesn't make your car faster and most importantly I believe it would do nothing for anyone actually. I believe the CVT has a range of ratios; it chooses the one you need; unless you are towing and need a manual override of this you can. I guess you could say it is good for hill like situations sometimes, but I felt no problem in drive what so ever with another person and luggage.

If anyone knows anything more technical and specific please chime in on this 'synthetic gear mode', I will admit I am just applying deductive knowledge here.

i was holding it there to show that the problem starts when the rpm's are raised. I live around alot of hills and I get this sound when im going up, and when the transmission auto brakes on the downhill side.

I just held it there to recreate the sound I hear at higher speeds

When the car is in neutral or in a low RPM the whine dissapears . the pitch changes with engine speed

Take it to dealer, if it's the CVT, they don't charge to look at it, I had a problem at 53k, left car at shop 3 days later they handed me my keys.

Well I took it into Wesloh Nissan. I drove the service boss around and was able to create the noise. He felt that it is a normal sound while the car is under load. He felt that the way I held the rpm's in place with the tiptronic to show him was not "normal operation". They looked over the car and found the front motor mount had to replaced 50$ extended warranty deductable (otherwise 500$) when i went to pick up the car I found a dent behind the passenger door, after some arguing they decided to cover it. I went home and found ANOTHER dent on my front fender (they decided not to fix it...) so i spent another 150 on paintless dent repair.

they recommended that i get a fuel injection cleaning as well as the throttle body done because of time and mileage (200$) Has anyone with around 54000k had this done?

I dont plan on using wesloh ever again, any good suggestions for a new dealer for service? Im in laguna beach so there are a few around.
