Default Coolant Issue

I have an 06 Maxima sl, with 48,200 miles and it eats coolant. In the cold winter months up in new england i go from a little over the max level on the coolant tank to a little below the min level on the coolant tank in between oil changes. I thought this was just that nature of the beast until today i looked under the hood and im under the min line and only got 1200 miles down after the last oil change when i checked it. I keep just adding coolant. There is no puddles under the car ever. Is this a problem? or just the nature of the beast?

That's a problem. You have a leak somewhere. Something is wrong.

Yeah, it shouldn't be eating coolant at all. There's a leak somewhere. Do you get any burning sweet smell? If so it's leaking and burning up coolant.

Its def a issue. Sounds like a leak some where. It can also be caused by air in the coolant system. Do you hear a running fluid sound on the passenger side when you press on the gas @ times?

That means you have air bubbles in there and it needs to be burped.

I'm sure there's a how to on here but you could drain the radiator and refill it.

its best if the car was on an angle BUT its do-able on flat drive way.

pop the cap off and fill it, turn the car on and let it idle with the HEATER ON FULL BLAST.

your going to spend about 20-30 on this, feel the center of the dash vents and make sure hot air is comming out.

After that , bring the revs up to 1,500-2grand and hold it there for about 30 seconds.

go back and check the radiator if theirs fluid, by now you should see bubbles comming up,

make sure its filled , and keep the heater on , let it idle for 15 mins and bring the revs up one more time for 30 seconds and then let the car idle out.

after the bubbles are all out cap it off and turn your A/C on to make sure the FANS kick on.
