Default Change Height Of Shifter

So I got this 05 maxima stick shift not to long ago, and like everything about the car except the stock shifter lever, I've seen pictures with shorted levers but no information. So does anybody know anything about how you can lower the height of it?

About the only way is to cut a piece out and weld back together. I think @RAZ76 did that.

There's a kit you can buy that will shorten the throw but nothing for the shifter itself.

The throw doesn't bother me that much, just the lever height, but thanks.

There is two ways to do this as stated above.

Cutting the handle and welding it down an inch or so lower, but you will eliminate the reverse lockout mechanism in doing so.
The other way is to fab a mechanism (copy the plastic piece, but make the plastic arm shorter)out of metal but shorter the same amount you are going to cut and re-weld...

Basically if you don't have the fab skills you could have someone fab or machine the plastic piece below. The pen points to the area that needs to be shortened the most, also the flat base part was shortened about 1/2 inch as well. Unfortunately I did not take any pics when I did this as my phone battery was dead.

Yes I did do that. I cut the shaft and then got a momo shift knob that uses 4 allen screws on the side that secures it to the shaft.
