Default Car Won't Accelerate!!! RPMs Wont Rise

Yet another problem with my car. this time my car wont accelerate. Changed plugs oil, whole throttle body. parked it last night woke up this morning, starts fine put it in drive and floored it and im not getting any acceleration! RPM wont go over 3000 nor can i go any faster than 20mph. Had this happen to my friend before and a mechanic cleared the codes and it ran fine. Unfortunatly I cannot afford to take this to a dealership to do. Autozone has the OBD scanner but is not allowed to "Clear Codes" what is causing this.? Ive been in limp mode before when the car is stuck in 5th. which required new cam sensors. I replaced all three and still wont move.

my grounds are good, I have 3 batteries in the car. Tail lights are fine. I have a deleted cat so my check engine light stays on but it was cut 2 years ago and this problem has just come about.

How to reset ECU in 5th and 6th Generation Maxima's
1. Turn ignition switch on and wait about 3 seconds.

Repeat the following steps (2a and 2b) procedures quickly five times within 5 seconds.

2a. Fully depress the accelerator pedal (HARD).
2b. Fully release the accelerator pedal.

3. Wait 7 seconds, fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for approx. 10 seconds until the CEL starts blinking. (here is where i think you can get a code from this.)
4. Fully release the accelerator pedal (while the CEL is still blinking)
5. Wait about 10 second.
6. Fully depress the accelerator pedal and keep it for more than 10 seconds.
7. Fully release the accelerator pedal (The CEL light will continue to blink).
8. Turn ignition switch to “OFF” position and now you can start the car. The CEL light should be gone.

Also, I have read that it takes 400-500 miles of driving for the ECU to complete readapting. If I drive heavy on the throttle during that time then what different signals does the ECU send? Does it adjust the timing, fuel, etc from that point forward?

Not to be a dick or nothing but I had this happen as well. Oddly enough if you aren't getting enough juice from your battery this will happen as well. I know you said you have three batteries in your car but I'm sure only one is sending power to the ecu. I pretty much have had everything possible that could go wrong with my max that would make you shake your head in amazement
Hope this helps, but if not I'm a new so no worries lol

Well not to be captain obvious lol. Just didn't wanna be that guy with all the crappy ideals. No but seriously when mine did what his is doing ended up being the battery. Something about the signal to the ecu wasn't strong enough. I try to use the kiss method whenever it comes to fixing stuff, because not likely to have catastrophic things go wrong with cars, machinery, etc. Its usually something simple that makes you shake your head... Unless you have water in your oil l

I assume you plug the DBW connector back in ( green plug IIRC )

take the (+) Terminal off , and the (-) Terminal off

Turn the headlight switch to the ON position

Go back to the terminals and touch the TERMINALS cable together ( not on the battery and stay away from the battery ) for 10 seconds.

Now DO NOT PUT THE TERMINAL Back on the battery YET ,

Go back and turn the HEADLIGHT SWITCH TO THE OFF POSITION

Connect the (+) and (-) together ,

Start the car and let it idle for 15-20 mins , DO NOT press on the gas or anything else.

After 20 mins give it a quick REV and see if its revving pass 3K.

IF IT NOT then the throttle body is a issues, which is a known factor for failure with Z guys , Mines also failed on me after I ported mines and having the car sat for 2 years in my garage

Just a FYI
Resetting ECU in this case will not work. He has conditions NOT MET as the ECU sees it. You can NOT have a hard CEL by being in "Fail Safe" as Nissan calls it or as everyone else "Limp Mode". You ALWAYS must clear (Repair) the pending CELs and meet the following list of other conditions that must be met before you can re-set ECU
-idle @ 675 +-50 Rpm 5AT
-parking brake applied
-no electrical loads (lights,AC, heat, doors closed etc)
-steering wheel centered.

To answer your other question regarding why it takes 400-500 miles to complete adapting.

Nissan ECU's are very advanced, seriously. Working on many different manufacturers myself its very easy to discover and also by the amount of techs that stay away from them.

Nissan utilizes advance Adaptive learning in their ECU. Once adaptive learning is commended after you Reset ECU, you must do the same with adaptive learning. The system is looking at data and comparing but has the ability to optimise or choose its limits pending on your driving style insert(A/F ratios) then it compromises fuel table map for that meets optimal emissions and MPG per your driving style. It takes that time for ECU to look at data, warm up temps, A/F data and sets specific OBDII monitors to "READY" after collecting and comparing data stored. Then you vehicle is ready for emission as the vehicle is clear of CEL's and no other sensors are in malfunction and catalytic efficiency is met.OBD Monitors are "Ready" then the vehicle is perfect according to the ECM

Thanks for the insight i did not realize this at all. This is Why i like this Forum....so much info and someone can always help and Without bein like hey dumba** ur wrong idiot lmao. So much of that on other forums

You shouldn't clear codes. You should repair them. They are there to inform you of issues. The sooner you get use to that idea, the sooner it will save you money since you are trying to save money by not being able to take the car in for repairs. Means more money for MODS

Your Max went into Limp mode. It probably is your thottle body as NiSMo101 stated above, however, This could be a long list of possible CEL's
Also, you will NOT be able to perform relearns until you fix the CEL's whether it was a cat you bypassed a year ago or something more recent. You shouldnt just assume that the code that was there a year ago is still the same and only code that's there.

Here is a list of possible CEL's for Limp Mode:

i have codes

P1229
P2138
P2122

all have a Probable cause of "Poor Electrical Connection"

I think @Dpaulk74 is right!

no way in hell all these sensors went out at the same time. And now that I think about it 2 of my amps will not come on!

any insight @BurntOrangeAppeal ?

I just replaced the Throttle body not even a week ago.
